Based in St. Petersburg and debuting on Bonzai is Pierre Zamyatin. Pierre has seen many releases on labels like, Modu Records, Evoked Recordings, Nueva Deep, Electronic Tree and Spring Tube. He mainly produces deep, progressive and tech house but has delved into breaks on occasion. Today we have the four tracker "Light Refractions Ep" which is a testament to his diverse range.
The title track takes us on a somewhat laidback yet powerful epic journey through the progressive house spectrum. Nice and steady rhythms provided by the drum section with a heavy bass underlying. Lots of melodies weave their way in and out of this sound and a sweeping pad adds texture, top stuff.
"The Edge" gets tougher, gritty bass and sharper percussions allow the energy to rise on this, quality FX are used and a brilliant in your face vocal sample takes centre stage now and again. As we continue this tune morphs itself several times, becoming deeper on the break with those wonderful pads. Another epic slice of prog and destined for a lot of boxes.
"Free Your Mind" is one of those tracks that come around on rare occasions, a track that just moves you without you even knowing it. Plenty of quality sounds will keep the ear trained but focus on the bass, solid, constant, hypnotic, you will be hooked on this for sure, top tune.
Lastly we have "Serious Wobble", once again Pierre's talents shine through, expertly crafted sounds and top notch arrangements all married together to create this beauty of a track. Strong and solid groove, again the basses are the focal point as they draw you in. Perfect for those late night, darkened room parties!
