REVIEW: Elfsong - Shar out on Touchstone Recordings

Our 3rd release on Touchstone Recordings comes courtesy of Hungarian man-of-the-moment Elfsong, his previous genre-crossing release 'Eta Carinae' on Solaris was supported by progressive and trance DJ’s alike. 'Shar' charts similar territory, although it is a very different record.

The Original Mix takes a gorgeous melody and weaves it around a tight triplet groove, a whispered vocal hook shimmering atop the mix. Ukrainian prog producer Tvardovsky is first up on remix duties with a deeper take, working the melodies into a more familiar 4/4 groove.

Soarsweep provide an of-the-moment house-meets-trance mix, a huge stabbing synth working the magic and doing the damage.

Dimitri Kechagias review: The quality trance label Touchstone recordings headed by Rich Solarstone who is about to release his album Pure presents the brand new production by the Hungarian uprising star Elfsong. Shar is a mysterious dreamy progressive trance track with deep basslines, tribal trance beats and etherial melodies. Its not in your face and is more of a mood setting track perfect to introduce yourself to your audience. Quality unconventional composition by Elfsong who attempts to break the rules and rewrite the trance genre with his own sounds. If you love the deep progressive trance sound of  Moonbeam you will be happy to know that the package includes the Tvardovsky Remix that moves along the lines of that deep full of atmosphere and mysticism trance sound. Particularly if you check out the breakdown you will appreciate the high art and the rich soundtextures of its cinematic soundscapes. Last but not least my favourite Soarsweep are on board as well and their version pushes the track to the uplifting progressive trance territory with heavy influences of Swedish epic prog house as well. Great  piano riffs will drive the track towards the Ibiza euphoric sound  with superb sweet calm breakdown right before the big room uplifting climax to throw those hands in the air!
