Melodic House & Techno Review: Mauro Picotto, CRW & Kamilo Sanclemente - I Feel Love out on Armada Music

Kamilo Sanclemente is a prominent Colombian DJ and producer who has become a leading figure in the global progressive house and melodic techno scene. Hailing from Cali, he is widely recognized for his ability to weave deep, atmospheric textures with emotive melodies, creating a signature sound that is both cinematic and club-ready. His prolific output has seen him release music on some of the genre's most prestigious labels, including Anjunadeep, The Soundgarden, and Balance Music. Beyond his solo work, Sanclemente is a frequent collaborator within the South American electronic community, consistently topping the Beatport charts and earning support from industry titans like Hernán Cattáneo and Nick Warren.

Mauro Picotto is an Italian electronic music icon whose career spans decades and multiple evolutions of the dance music genre. Originally rising to international superstardom in the late 1990s and early 2000s, he became a defining voice in the Techno-Trance movement with legendary anthems such as "Lizard," "Iguana," and "Komodo." As the founder of the influential Alchemy label and the renowned Meganite club nights, Picotto transitioned from his trance roots into a more stripped-back, sophisticated techno sound, maintaining his relevance as a tastemaker and high-energy performer. His legacy is cemented as one of the first DJs to bring a high-concept, Italian flair to the global underground circuit, earning him numerous awards and a permanent place in electronic music history.
Kamilo Sanclemente notes in his instagram account about the track: Today is a very important day for my musical career. I have been waiting for this day for several months. About two years ago, I created a remix of Mauro Picotto’s track for my live shows, as I have always admired the musical legacy of the great Mauro Picotto. I made it with the intention of playing it at all my shows, but I sent the project to him, and I loved it. He told me that if I had more remixes, I could share them with him. Finally, the remixes were accepted by the prestigious label Armada Music, and this is the first of them—one of three that will be released. This is Mauro Picotto presenting CRW “I Feel Love,a progressive adaptation that is taking the world by storm, alongside artists like Cosmic Gate, among others. This is a official release. [item value="10"]Mauro Picotto, CRW & Kamilo Sanclemente - I Feel Love[/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Mauro Picotto, CRW & Kamilo Sanclemente’s track “I Feel Love” is a masterclass in contemporary progressive production, blending meticulous technical execution with an emotionally resonant performance. At 123 BPM, the track thrives on a consistent rhythmic drive supported by pulsating tribal basslines and precise percussion layers. The groove is flawlessly engineered, and the dynamic kick patterns ensure that both club systems and personal listening setups deliver a full-bodied experience. Its rhythmic foundation provides a natural propulsion that enhances physical movement, making it ideal for fitness and wellness classes, as studies suggest that music with steady tempos between 120–130 BPM can improve exercise performance and endurance (Karageorghis & Priest, 2012). From a melodic and harmonic perspective, the track excels. The well-known synth hook and ethereal vocal layers are carefully harmonized to evoke deep emotional responses while maintaining an immersive progressive house structure. The harmonic layering is spacious yet cohesive, and the careful EQ placement allows each element to breathe within the mix. Spatial effects and reverbs generate an enveloping atmosphere, crucial in engaging listeners psychologically, as research has demonstrated that immersive musical environments can reduce stress and enhance mood regulation (Thoma et al., 2013). The build-ups and transitions are timed with precision, creating emotional peaks that resonate strongly on dancefloors and in personal listening experiences alike. Production quality is exemplary, showcasing Mauro Picotto and Kamilo Sanclemente’s attention to detail. The dynamic range and loudness levels are meticulously balanced, allowing the track to maintain its explosive energy without causing auditory fatigue. Subtle use of effects, including delays and stereo imaging, contributes to a three-dimensional soundscape that enhances listener immersion. Transitions between breakdowns and drops are fluid, sustaining energy flow and narrative cohesion. Within a DJ context, its clearly defined intro and outro structures, consistent BPM, and loop-friendly segments maximize cueing flexibility and integration into live sets. The track’s originality lies in its ability to honor the legacy of Mauro Picotto’s earlier work while infusing Kamilo Sanclemente’s progressive sensibilities. Its arrangement tells a story that evolves over time, guiding the listener through phases of anticipation and release. Emotional resonance is achieved not just through melody and vocal timbre, but also through the evolving textures that maintain engagement across repeated listens. Studies on music and human emotion suggest that such structural predictability combined with intermittent novelty enhances dopamine release, supporting its appeal and replay value (Salimpoor et al., 2011). From a wellness perspective, “I Feel Love” demonstrates measurable benefits. Uplifting progressive electronic music has been shown to facilitate positive affect and stress reduction, which can support mental health programs and mindfulness-oriented fitness routines. Its 123 BPM tempo is particularly suited for synchronized movement exercises, including cycling and aerobics, reinforcing motor coordination and enhancing overall mood. #PureGold Loveit [/content]
