REVIEW: Protoculture - Cobalt/Ode To The Ocean out on Re*Brand/Armada

1.Cobalt (Original Mix)
2.Ode To The Ocean (Original Mix)

In a scene where originality is more than just a virtue, one of EDM’s latest players started a successful game. South-Africa’s Protoculture delivers time and again, and doesn’t disappoint with his new 'Cobalt' and 'Ode To The Ocean' either.

This guy’s got pluck, fusing styles and continuously testing new and unheard combo’s. Praised by the DJ elite, as well as the global dance crowd, Nate Raubenheimer sees his Protoculture name rise in fame. From the waves of ‘Sun Gone Down’ and ‘Liquid Logic’ to ‘Topaz’, each one had its own, massive impact. ‘Ode To The Ocean’ and ‘Cobalt’ alike.

While ‘Ode To The Ocean’ holds a strong feel of mystery and rises with a warm, melodic theme, strong prog-trance beats and atmospheric changes, ‘Cobalt’ brings out the darker shades of prog-trance. A deep, solid tune for both the warm-up and peak-time hours.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Re*Brand is the quality progressive trance label headed by the talented Max Graham who has an ear for the big anthems. The brand new release on Re*Brand is the new EP that we all were waiting for with anticipation. Its finally here for us to enjoy the massive new Protoculture double sider ready to become your next beloved trance EP. Cobalt and Ode To The Ocean have the sign CLASS A trance tunes that will become easily what we call as classics. First of all is the awesome Cobalt. You can expect amazing percussion and those life full playful drums that Nate knows so well to compose. His sounddesign is admirable as deep basslines, chopped female vocals, driving melodies and bubbly beats  are merged beautifully with warm synths  in order to deliver that magical atmosphere that we all term as  'Protoculture" style. This EP becomes even more admirable when you check the stunning  Ode To The Ocean. It starts with sound effects taken  from the sea such as seawaves, voices of dolphins and whales coupled with beautiful sweet melodies. The track becomes tougher and rockier than Cobalt giving us the sense that we deal with a peak time cracker. If you wait impatiently for the breakdown you can be more right as once again Nate surprise us all as along the sea related sound effects he adds a massive opera style vocal that works so well with the main melodic theme creating one of those unforgettable moments of the clubnight that everybody will discuss at the social media when they will chill back home. It sounds in my ears like an epic moment taken from a Hollywood blockbuster soundtrack. Its pure class and an exceptional EP not to be missed. I wonder what's coming next??Adore IT!
