Over the past two years, one of Markus Schulz’s go-to guys to provide fresh impetus to his Global DJ Broadcast radio show and livesets has been Melbourne’s Aaron Camz. He became a big favorite last year thanks to Prague ’11 feature Room to Breathe. And with impressive remixes of Mike Foyle’s classic Space Guitar for the Coldharbour 100 celebrations, followed by Grube & Hovsepian’s Invisible, he is back in focus with a full E.P. on offer.
As a new year heralded the latest chapter of the city compilation series, Los Angeles ’12, Aaron was in the spotlight once again. Planted in the middle of disc 2, Aqwa is primed for those peak-time moments, with a tough and uncompromising lead that will blister soundsytems in the clubs. Upon the release of the compilation, Aqwa has been one of the most requested tracks in Markus’ livesets, and with a tried and tested sound, it will see Aaron’s name spread to the playlists of many.
Along with Aqwa, Aaron also presents two strong offerings. Buckle Up, with two versions to compliment contrasting ends to the Coldharbour spectrum, has been a recent highlight on Global DJ Broadcast. And Camshaft, which was used infamously in mashup fashion along with the Chemical Brothers’ Hey Boy, Hey Girl last summer, receives a long-awaited release.
With his DJ schedule increasing across Australia, it’s only a matter of time before Aaron Camz spreads his wings across the globe. And with Aqwa leading the way, his movement will only accelerate.
Dimitri Kechagias review: One of the hottest new progressive trance producers is of course the hugely talented Aaron Camz who releases his latest EP on Coldharbour Red. Not one but four massive tracks included on this magical EP that will satisfy all the deep underground trance lovers out there. Firstly is the huge driving atmospheric trancer Aqwa. Liquid deep dark trance with superb drive and cinematic atmosphere merged with little sweet melodies making an awesome sonic contrast. Stand out point in here the top rave synthy lead that will blow some club roofs for sure. You can sense that this melody will have a sure impact upon the clubbers soul for sure. Next is the fantastic Buckle Up comes in two versions. The original mix continues on the deep atmospheric cinematic dark deep trance pathway but is much more meaty and banging straight for the peak time of your set. A mysterious trance journey that takes humans mind to another Coldharbour dimension without doubts. His breakdown includes a massive electro influenced melodic riff that has the word anthem written all over it. If you love what we term as pure trance close to the roots of the genre check this out. Deep mix as the word suggests goes under the surface for a cool adventure at the deepest sides of human consciousness. Don't be fooled though cause even this deep version will damage your dancefloor straight away. Lastly on this gigantic size EP is the top anthem Camshaft. Fat rocking dark basslines and haunting atmosphere creates the perfect soundscape to let your heart go along with your body that will be hard to control. Just check the huge synthy riff in the breakdown that will unite thousands of clubbers to rock their bodies hard.
