Smart Apes (aka Konstantin Pavlovskiy, Alexander Chernenko, Irina Shvidkaya and vocalist Katerina 'Kate Miles' Krutskih) have paved their own way in the EDM scene since 2009. Many will remember very well when their single "Smile" hit the streets and caught the immediate support from Tiësto, Sander van Doorn, Cosmic Gate and many others. Their remix of Ton TB's hitsingle "Headrush" was played by Armin van Buuren in his radio show A State Of Trance and their single "Perfect" made it into the Top40 charts after a spin on Kiss FM Radio. And here they now present their latest gem, the single “Thunderbird”; a superb deep trancer with the soaring vocals of Andee on top of it, a killer combination for today’s clubs. The elaborate arrangement of the Smart Apes screams for being playlisted by the big names again. Driving beats, hot synths and a superb break, all guaranteeing one thing: a packed dancefloor in the club. Imagine a late night session in Ibiza, high season and then this track. It doesn’t get better.
The remixes all stay close to the original, but their subtle differences will all work at any given moment at any possible style of live DJ set. With “Thunderbird”, Smart Apes have once again delivered an absolute beauty for every DJ on the planet!
Dimitri Kechagias review: Smart Apes manage to build a strong reputation in the trance scene with superb releases one after the other and the finest on them on Black Hole recordings. Their latest anthem is called Thunderbird and is coming with an impressive package of remixes on Black Hole. The original mix follows the well established Smart Apes style of deep basslines, swirling synths, driving beats and dreamy melodies with cherry on top the male vocal by Andee that we wish to see him in more trance productions as he has the delicate, floating voice perfect for trance tracks. Aquile & TeeB Remix is the more upfront version for the peak time of your set. It is tougher with rockier stompier beat and techier bassline with the male mesmerizing vocals on top. The breakdown is sweet and mellow until that big electro synthy riff is introduced to drive mad the clubbers and tease them enough until the fat and stompin beat is back for that tech trance influenced main part perfect for the big room sets and festivals of course. As an outro is used the great catsy vocal upon a breakbeat style part. Lastly Ira remix is the more balearic laidback style version with punchier tribal trance beats and balearic guitar riffs that work perfectly to highlight the quality vocal of course. Radio edit is included as well perfect for early night/late night shows. Love IT!
