Belgian duo Nash & Pepper make their debut on Coldharbour Recordings to kick off the label’s output for 2012, and provides an eclectically-ranged package in the process.

Childhood friends Nicolas Geniets and Steven Pepermans are among the wonderful talent emanating from Belgium. Along with their double release in 2011 of Aftersun & I Killed the Love, they have come under the spotlight further with a much respected remix of Tiesto’s iconic Flight 643. For First Scream, they team up with singer and actress Deborah Ostrega - known notably for her work with the band Lords of Acid.

First Scream has been a near constant on Markus Schulz’s Global DJ Broadcast shows since the summer of 2011, primarily due to an outstanding remix by Coldharbour stalwart Mike Foyle. Always one to experiment with new styles and techniques, his talents are evident in listening to the lush break and allowing the vocal to shine. Mike’s remix was also featured on Markus’ special “100 Minutes of 2011” mix released during the Christmas period.

Legendary producer CJ Bolland is next under focus, and whilst he is not one to commit to multitudes of remix work, he was delighted to work on the First Scream project. Always one who thinks outside the box, he delivers a surprising remix here. In addition, Dennis Wakkop Reijers - famed for his work in the studio with Tiesto both under his own strand and the Allure alter ego, shines with an edgy rock-influenced effort which is akin to Deborah’s Lords of Acid output. For those requiring a version for liveset play, talented German Dennis Sheperd comes through with another remix adding to his impressive slate of work in the past 12 months.

With a wide variety of sounds and taste on offer, First Scream will appeal to multiple genre followers. Made in Belgium, ready for the world.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Coldharbour label headed by Markus Schulz  provides to the progressive trance scene always eclectic progressive trance tracks that stand out from the rest. When the competition is tough and sometimes nasty a record label needs quality releases to build a strong reputation and tight bond with its fans worldwide. Coldharbour is a label of excellence and offers a massive new anthem by Nash & Pepper. First Scream in its original form has a breakbeat industrial influenced sound that was very successful at the beginning of EDM particularly in Belgium. The remixers have the task to translate this beauty into a big club smasher in various shapes and colours. First of all Coldharbour regular Mike Foyle goes for an epic deep progressive trancer that has steady build up throughout with lovely breakbeat style breakdown that serves well the atmosphere of the original and the outstanding vocals by Ostrega. We Are Remix is a totally different thing in a more electro house meets industrial sound. Particularly the chorus is epic and banging to get you out of your mind. The legend CJ Bolland is on board as well with his view of how dubstep should be. Dont be fooled from the name as Cj Bolland will surprise you pleasantly. A very cool version for radio play as well. Last but not least the German star Dennis Sheperd deliver a driving dark deep prog meets tech trance version that is closer on the Coldharbour classic sound of course.  If you search a peak time weapon better get this under your belt and you will not regret it. Awesome release, Love IT!
