REVIEW: Future Disciple - Bright Tides/Big Stones on Songbird

1. Bright Tides
2. Big Stones

Future Disciple presents a new debut EP on the Songbird imprint, featuring the titles “Bright Tides” and “Big Stones”.

Future Disciple’s EP has an irresistible house feel to it and boasts two super danceable cuts. The first one to open the EP is “Bright Tides”, a track that due to the undeniable techno and progressive influences has an attractive dark sound about it. It makes it the perfect single to play in a packed underground house party. Pumping bass, funky drum programming, subtle voice samples and synth chords that initially will remind some of us of “Swimming Places” by Julien Jabre. But that’s where every comparison ends, ‘cause “Bright Tides” is something else. Make sure to check out the break, where Future Disciple offers an arrangement that would fit perfectly in a modern science fiction movie.

“Big Stones” approaches things from a different angle and pummels the dance floor like a fat house killer is supposed to: disco style drum programming with the claps slightly off beat on top of the snare, everything of course as the danceable basis for electro/techy synth lines, far away voice stabs, an insistent bass line and driving percussion. The new Future Disciple EP offers two incredible cuts for every self respecting house and electro house DJ; a package that will feature in many future tracklists of the big names

Dimitri Kechagias review: Songbird is the sublabel of Black Hole recordings that is all about quality electronic dance music with releases that focus on the progressive side of the spectrum. The latest EP by Future Disciple includes two superb cuts that will apeal in a wide variety of EDM fans that wish to play out what we openly call as progressive. Bright Tides goes all the way for a tribal prog house trip with strong percussion, vocal samples and clubby effects to add tension and raise the energy. What is also very exceptional in it is of course the exotic style melodies that sound like coming from a country in the Middle East. I can imagine prog house and prog trance djs applying this track and getting great reactions from their demanding fanbase. Big Stones follows a more summery balearic melodic route with a progressive trance  track that flows and grows so nicely with plenty of warm atmospheres upon the deep bassline, the mesmerizing melodic hooks and the exotic vocal samples. Songbird is a heavy label for an artist to carry because of the huge names that appeared  to it through the years and Future Disciple sounds perfect for the Songbird music policy! Like IT!
