REVIEW: Grube & Hovsepian - Torque out on Coldharbour/Armada Music

1.Torque (Original Mix)
2.Torque (Klauss Goulart Remix)

2011 has been a year of significant development for Miami’s Tim Grube and Los Angeles’ Mike Hovsepian. Following on from the success of their remix for Markus Schulz’s Do You Dream, they created an anthem of their own with Invisible; proudly receiving some of the loudest plaudits on the Prague ’11 compilation earlier in the year.

Following a string of remixes for the likes of Aaron Camz and Klauss Goulart, Grube & Hovsepian are back on Coldharbour in production capacity with Torque - which sees Tim and Mike’s love for driving basslines fused with spine-tingling melodies in evidence again. Already given the seal of approval by Markus Schulz on Global DJ Broadcast and by the fans in their response, the original mix looks set to be a big favorite among many as 2011 comes to a close. If you like your trance with a melodic dose, then this is the one for you.

On remix duty is close friend of Grube & Hovsepian, Brazil’s Klauss Goulart. Evidenced by the former appearing on remix duty for the latter’s No Man’s Land release, Klauss returns the compliment by giving Torque a raw and throbbing vibe, which has worked to devastating effect in the liveset environment. With plays at the Escape from Wonderland festival, the Klubbers Meeting in Madrid and Markus’ residency at Marquee in Las Vegas, it is a remix that has certainly attained momentum under its belt ahead of release.

Two very strong options which will satisfy a broad range of trance fans. Invisible became much loved in the spring, and now Torque looks set to follow in its footsteps.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Coldharbour has in its pocket another winner release that is a proof of the fantastic A & R work that is done by Markus Schulz  who has that ability to pick and release tracks with substance that deserve to be out there. The top duo of progressive trance scene Grube & Hovsepian return with the beautiful Torque. You can expect the high quality standards that we are used to get by this brilliant duo with bubbling tribalish progressive groovy beats and beautiful airy melodies on top. The whole production  has a balearic feel for sure and it can warm the atmosphere in your set when you feel that the crowd needs some extra special  feel good beats. When you think of a moment that your followers ask for some nasty dirty spanky hot and maddening sounds you can pick and mix the Klauss Goulart remix. The hot latin producer transforms the original into a massive electro trance meets prog house style version that will be hard not to get along with its groove and raise those hands in the air when the electroish distorted riff will be revealed. Top notch release on a label that continues to be right up there as a leader and force for others to watch out! Love It!
