During Amsterdam Dance Event the results announced of the annual election of the DJ MAG Top 100. This list is regarded worldwide as the official DJ top 100 ranking. Every year more than 450 000 fans from more than 167 countries vote for their favourite DJ of the past year. The popularity poll has existed for 14 years now and our Northern Neighbours often went away with the top positions. After years without any Belgian presence Belgian DJ duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have made it to the prestigious Top 100. The brothers from Willebroek scored a 79th place and so add their names to the list headed by top three David Guetta, Armin van Buuren and Tiësto.
International world top
Because of the worldwide explosion of dance there is more and more drumming to take one of the 100 much sought-after places. Top names from the DJ MAG Top 100 list include, among others, Daft Punk, Swedish House Mafia, Carl Cox, Deadmau5, Roger Sanchez, Bob Sinclar, Steve Aoki, Paul van Dyk, Richie Hawtin and Martin Solveig. It was back in 2003 that a Belgian DJ made it on to the list, when the other brothers Dewaele were in the top 100. Traditionally this DJ poll is a reflection of who, in the coming year, will be on the wish-list of promotors, clubs and festivals throughout the world. In just the first week 130 000 votes had already been cast. Last year the DJ Poll counted 500 000 votes from 167 countries, which means that this ranking is the world’s biggest dance music poll.
Crown on delivered work
In 2003 2 Many dj’s scored a creditable 85th place in the famous DJ MAG Top 100. This year is the turn of the brothers from Willebroek, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, regarded worldwide as one of the greatest talents ever.The young DJ duo bagged a well-deserved 79th place. This is the crown on the delivered work of recent years. Last year Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike scored a hit with the Tomorrowland anthem. After the busy summer they went off on their first tour, taking in North America, Brazil and Australia. With success too, because this year their diaries are crammed with all kinds of appearances in Belgium and farther afield. The brothers’ popularity continues to grow apace. Dimitri & Mike are now in North America for their new tour where they will perform in the best-known clubs and at the biggest festivals in, e.g., New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Miami. Then they are off to Canada, Brazil and Asia, with loads of appearances all over Europe in the cards.

The (express) train to success
Besides all those appearances the past year was also a great success for Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike musically. Big names from the world of music now instinctively beat a path to their door for remixes. This year they remixed Jennifer Lopez, LMFAO, Pitbull, Benny Benassi, Sean Paul, Bob Sinclar, Audio Bullys & Erick Morillo. They brought along a lot of their own numbers and worked on them together with, among others, Axwell and Afrojack. Tracks were released on leading labels such as Dim Mak by Steve Aoki or Size by Steve Angello. The tracks & remixes by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike can be found in the record boxes & radio shows of David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Erick Morillo, Paul Van Dyk, Eric Prydz, Pete Tong, Dirty South and Tiësto and many more. There is still a whole laundry list of remixes ready for established artists and collaborations with top DJs and producers for the biggest names in the world of music in the United States. In the coming months their popularity promises only to increase exponentially.
Celebration Party
On Thursday 3 November 2011 Dimitri & Mike come back from America to throw, together with ID&T - the organizers behind Tomorrowland and management of the duo - a free Celebration Party in Café d’Anvers. So everyone gets the chance to join them in celebrating this unique recognition.
