REVIEW: Steve Brian & Cressida – Cambodia out on Tool Trance

Steve Brian & Cressida – Cambodia (Original Mix)
Steve Brian & Cressida – Cambodia (SHato & Paul Rockseek Remix)

Hailed as the offspring stars of the euphonic label, it was only a matter of time until Steve Brian and Cressida teamed up for a collaboration.

Combining their trademark sounds, the result Cambodia is a driving progtrancer with wicked basslines and pounding beats that glides into a balearic interlude, where atmospheric soundscapes are sourrounded by lush vocal effects. The track then introduces a huge chord melody that will keep your crowd on the move for sure.

The clever and new shooting stars duo SHato & Paul Rockseek chip in one of their remixes to complete this package. Reminiscent of their hit "Wonderfooled", the Czech-Slovak jointventure created a more fluffy but equally clubworthy interpretation of Cambodia, with huge pads and a perfect overall flow.

Essential stuff from the tool stable yet again that shouldn`t be missed!

Dimitri Kechagias review: Tool Trance is one of those cases that because of its constant stream of high quality releases manage to become a beloved label for A list djs such as  Armin van Buuren or Above and Beyond that very often feature in their show TATW the majority of the releases of this not to be missed label. The brand new release is the brainchild of two really talented but low profile individuals and real Artists. Cressida and Steve Brian combine their intellectual abilities to produce together a brilliant progressive trancer.  Highly energetic track that starts quite minimal but very soon becomes a fat and stomping  driving progressive trancer with variety of influences like electro and tech trance in play as well.  Of course what makes the track to stand out is the fantastic epic size main synthy melody in the carefully constructed breakdown that is  recalling classic trance anthems and the hands in the air get together and celebrate main part that works as the ecstatic climax. The vocal is distorted and distant creating a really out of this world atmosphere. The remix is produced by the wonderfooled duo Shato and Paul Rockseek that seems that they have found the secret recipe to build a beautiful soothing, grooving feel good travelling and inspiring version. The breakdown on this version is even more heart touching, hair raising and mindopening too. When you get  an excellent original version is hard to come up with even better version and these two youngsters manage to do it. Two outstanding versions for a label that keeps the trance mission still on the run.
