4. DJ Winn Remix
Dimitri Kechagias review: Avanti on Black Hole is the label of total versatility and openmindeness in EDM. The releases on that label are following the melodic progressive house style but sometimes provide tracks that easily can be playlisted in a prog trance set as well. For instance the new Re-Zone release has that ability to be here and there and everywhere. That means that has that free floating style that can be accomodated in variety of styles. Original is a beautiful melodic progressive gem that flows and grows with playful beats and awesome little melodic samples with the main melodic lead having a hypnotic effect upon you. Vocal version is pure party affair with the vocal telling us the story of having good time and get lost totally in music with placebo effects as well. The remixers really did fantastic reworks with my favorite the Ian & Rosie remix. Really big room and bouncy that sounds fat and thick as we wanted to be. You can imagine the damage that this frantic bassline will do in any big room quality sound system. The lovely melodies and the old school breaks style breakdown really add to its quality and uniqueness. Pure audio pleasure not for the weak minded. Dj Winn on his side delivers a more laidback prog house mix that can keep any set flowing really nicelly. Strong release with version that surprise the ears.

Re-Zone introduces his new single, entitled “Placebo” on the Avanti imprint.
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Re-Zone, but it was all worth the wait, ‘cause with “Placebo” Re-Zone brings us a superb new single, for which the original version was also recorded with vocals. Some will say that the beat programming comes close to a tribal cut, but once the synth arrangement sets in, we’re dealing with a trancer, slightly on the techno tip. Even the word progressive jumps to mind. A certain tension in the original version brings a refreshing atmosphere to the dancefloor, something that’s due to the unique build up of the entire song.
Ian Round & Rosie Romero’s remix keeps a close eye on the original, but still totally reworks the entire track from a to z. The surprising use of the well known Amen break certainly adds a bit of the funk and the use of Indian percussion in combination with a dark, rolling bassline makes for a true progressive gem. DJ Winn’s remix is tailor made for the big tech trance events and hammers in with big beats, fabulous synth programming and of course a grade-A break. Re-Zone’s “Placebo” will soon feature in a live set near you!
