Review by Dimitri Kechagias “Flux Bpm On The Move”

As you may know by now from my reports and interviews from that special festival I was there as representative of your favorite online radio station. Certainly was the high point of the summer if you consider the number of djs that performed there all of them at the highest point of their career at the moment. We have mentioned their names countless times including Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Chuckie, Laidback Luke, Markus Schultz, Lange, First State, Paul Oakenfold, Gareth Emery, Sasha, Sander Kleineberg and many more. I was very anxious waiting to receive my review copy of that event in order to check out if manage to capture the brilliant moments that I passed along with all the visitors at Tomorrowland. I can say without any hesitation that this DVD represents in the best possible way the grand scale and the whole climate of both days of the festival. The DVD includes the 35 minutes Tomorrowland Movie that has a story to tell like a movie with start point, middle and an end. It takes you on a mindblowing trip through the various stages to watch djs in action and the most important part of the event that is of course the crowd. The dance festivals are not about the great star performing at the center stage, for me the real star on the dance festivals are the thousands of people expressing their love for electronic music dancing all over, smiling, having fun and sending to the world the message that only united can make things or change things. The most powerful shots in the movies of the DVD are of course the ones with the masses of people in the main stage when they sing back to their favorite dj or lighting the sky in the night with their phones and looking like watching thousands of stars. The main movie is definitely an unforgettable emotional ride for 35 minutes with mini interviews with the artists performed and great shots from the beautiful scenery of the De Schorre leisure complex in Boom that the festival took place and the magical decors of the various stages that you can not get enough to watch. If you were there maybe, you will cry a bit like me recalling your memories while you watch this excellently edited movie but if you missed it I’m sure that if you watch it you will start thinking to book your tickets well in advance for Tomorrowland 2011.

Within this great DVD you will find an 11 minutes extract of the Swedish House Mafia performance that were amazing behind the decks talking to the people, asking them to shout back and live to the fullest their music. Of course there is the official music video of the anthem of this year event by Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike, Dada Life and Tara Macdonald excellently entitled Tomorrow(Give it into the night) that includes shots from the live performance of the anthem in the main stage with Tara in full effect. In addition there is a backstage of the making of the anthem that Dimitri, Dada Life and Tara explains how this collaboration came about. For the people who like harder styles there is a short move about the fantastic Q dance stage. To finish off the CD in great style there is a wonderful movie called A Day at Tomorrowland that has a more arty avant garde touch with great lounge/chill out/electronica soundtrack that you will adore. However, there are certain additions that I would love to see in the next years DVD. It will be great to include 10 minutes movie from each stage so people to listen the great variety of music cause in the whole DVD you can listen only house/progressive house/electro house and not any other style. In addition, a backstage movie would be helpful for people to understand the big scale of the production and for instance to see how the décor was set up that are elements that always fascinate people.

Overall, the DVD is definitely worth having and becoming part of your collection for another reason too and that is the fantastic mixed CD by Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike. All the current big smash hits of the epic prog house, dirty dutch or electro and tech house style are included. If you check out the tracklisting definitely, you will be amazed to find out the tracks that are currently riding high in the charts and the tracklists of the most well known djs in the world. Take my word for it when you will put this CD in your car stereo and you will go outside for cruising in your city all the eyes and ears will be focusing on you. If you can take so much attention and publicity dare to push play…

Many thanks to Debby, ID&T Belgium for having me as press and EMI Belgium for sending me a copy of this great DVD to review.
