Progressive House Review: ANUQRAM & Alexey Sonar - Time out on Anjunabeats

Progressive house duo ANUQRAM reunite with Alexey Sonar on 'Time', out 11th March on Anjunabeats.

ANUQRAM first appeared on Anjunabeats in 2021 with ‘Echoes’, a track that saw the duo collaborate with label mainstay PROFF, before going on to drop floorfillers like ‘Get On’, ‘Don’t Stop’ and ‘Bermondsey Bender’ (ANUQRAM Remix), which earned support from industry heavyweights like Armin van Buuren, Vintage Culture, David Guetta, Oliver Heldens, Cosmic Gate and more.

2024 saw ANUQRAM release three EP’s on Anjunabeats, kicking off with the ‘On My Knees EP’, which featured collaborations with Ash Nova and Dulus. The duo followed that up with their remix of Above & Beyond and Zoë Johnston's uplifting trance hit 'Crazy Love', which gained support from the likes of Nora En Pure, Sultan + Shepard, Jerro, Korolova, Chicane and Laura van Dam.

Last year, ANUQRAM joined forces with Eleonora on ‘Parasite’, which earned support from Jody Wisternoff, Chris Luno, Vintage Culture, A.M.R, Don Diablo and Jason Bentley on KCRW, before later releasing their mesmerising two-tracker 'Safari / Hide & Seek'. The duo kicked off this year by releasing 'Wake Me Up' with Second Sine, which featured on James Grant's 'Movement Vol. 5' compilation.

ANUQRAM and fellow progressive producer Alexey Sonar made their collaborative debut on Anjunabeats in 2024 with 'Cheerful Garden'. Now, the esteemed artists reunite on their latest single, 'Time'.

Release Date: 11th March 2026

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]ANUQRAM and Alexey Sonar’s single “Time,” released on Anjunabeats, is a masterclass in progressive house production, clocking in at a propulsive 126 BPM. From the first beat, the track captures attention with its impeccably tight rhythm section, featuring bouncy kicks and tough percussive layers that lock the groove firmly in place. The subtle syncopation and driving bassline create a hypnotic forward momentum, drawing listeners into an immersive journey. The melodic hooks are layered with precision, with luminous pads and soaring arpeggios weaving through darker harmonic undertones, establishing a rich sonic palette that evolves seamlessly across the arrangement. Transitional elements and carefully sculpted build-ups showcase the duo’s expertise in crafting tension and release, essential for both club play and fitness or wellness applications. The drops hit with polished impact, supported by a meticulous balance in dynamic range and loudness that ensures both clarity and power, whether through headphones or large sound systems. Intricate use of effects, including reverb swells, filtered sweeps, and spatial panning, enhances the three-dimensionality of the mix, enveloping listeners in a deep, immersive atmosphere. The male spoken vocals, processed to maintain an underground edge, lend a distinctive character that reinforces the track’s artistic identity and originality without overpowering the instrumental narrative. Scientifically, music like “Time” has been shown to positively affect mental health and physical performance. Progressive house tracks with consistent rhythmic drive and engaging harmonic movement can enhance focus and endurance during exercise, while the gradual builds and euphoric releases may elevate mood and reduce stress, according to research by Karageorghis & Priest (2012) on music and exercise psychology. Additionally, immersive soundscapes and repetitive rhythmic structures engage the brain’s reward systems, as highlighted in Salimpoor et al. (2013), fostering emotional resonance and a sense of flow that can be beneficial in wellness contexts such as yoga or guided meditation. “Time” exemplifies these attributes with its cohesive storytelling and capacity to stimulate both physical energy and emotional uplift. The track demonstrates flawless cohesion from intro to outro, with BPM stability that ensures seamless integration into DJ sets and easy cueing for loops or extended transitions. Its crowd reaction potential is high, as the track balances underground credibility with memorable melodic phrasing that encourages replay and long-term engagement. “Time” is not only a certified club weapon, but also a scientifically aligned soundtrack for enhancing human performance and well-being. #PureGold Loveit[/content]
