Exclusive Interview with Roman Hope on His Track “Namek” out on FSOE Argento

In the ever-evolving world of progressive trance, Roman Hope has emerged as a visionary artist whose sonic landscapes blend emotion, precision, and storytelling. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Roman’s journey began with an early fascination for his uncle’s turntables and the sounds of Depeche Mode, New Order, and Kraftwerk. Over the years, he honed his craft, exploring techno, progressive, and trance, eventually founding his own label, Trident Music, and releasing on prestigious imprints like AVA Deep, Freegrant Music, FSOE Argento, and Encanta.

We warmly welcome Roman Hope to the spotlight with his latest release, “Namek” (November 14 via FSOE Argento), a track that marks another milestone in his evolution as a producer. “Namek” is a lush, cinematic progressive trance track that showcases Roman Hope’s refined sound design and emotional depth. The evolving pads, smooth bassline, and soaring lead create a sense of journey, while the detailed effects and atmospheric textures pull the listener into an immersive sonic world. It’s the kind of track that embraces you from the very first note and keeps revealing new details with each listen, rewarding those who dive in deeper. Emotional yet precise, it stands as a testament to Roman Hope’s ability to craft music that resonates with fans of melodic and progressive electronic music.

With “Namek,” Roman Hope invites us all to step into his ever-expanding musical universe, a place where storytelling and sound design meet in perfect harmony.

Dimitris: How does Namek reflects the evolution of your sound since you first started producing music?

Roman Hope: “Namek” represents a very personal milestone in my evolution as a producer. When I first started, my music was all about raw instinct—I wanted to capture emotion without filters or overthinking. Over time, I’ve developed a deeper understanding of how to channel that emotion with clarity and structure. This track blends the storytelling melodies I’ve always been drawn to with a more mature and precise sound design. I’ve learned to balance energy with intentionality, and “Namek” reflects where I am today: confident, experimental, and fully aware of my sonic identity. Every detail, from the evolving atmospheres to the subtle modulations, is part of a cohesive narrative I couldn’t have created in my early years.

Dimitris: What specific sound design choices in Namek highlight your growth as an artist?

Roman Hope: One of the clearest signs of my growth is the way I now approach movement in sound. In “Namek,” the pads and atmospheres aren’t just static backdrops—they evolve through layers of modulation, automation, and subtle textural changes. For example, the main lead sound went through multiple iterations to achieve an organic balance between analog warmth and digital precision. I spent hours fine-tuning the dynamics so that every sweep, every resonance, and every tonal shift contributes to the emotional arc. These choices illustrate how my style has moved toward creating immersive, living soundscapes where every element breathes.

Dimitris: Which synthesizers, plugins, or software did you rely on most for crafting the core sounds of Namek?

Roman Hope: My creative home is Ableton Live, which I’ve been using for years. For “Namek,” Serum shaped the bass, while Sylenth1 and Spire handled the lush chords and atmospheric layers. Each plugin has its own character—Serum gives me precise digital control, Sylenth1 brings that classic warmth, and Spire bridges the two worlds with rich polyphonic textures. Together, they allowed me to sculpt a sonic palette that feels cohesive yet expansive, perfectly suited to the emotional journey of the track.

Dimitris: Can you walk us through your process for designing the lead melody or bassline—what tools, both hardware and software, did you use?

Roman Hope: The bassline in “Namek” actually grew out of the chord progression. I wanted it to feel smooth and cinematic, almost like a pad in motion, reinforcing the emotional weight of the track. I used Serum with layered processing in Ableton, shaping the tone with careful EQ and subtle saturation. The lead melody was crafted with a hybrid approach—combining a soft analog-style oscillator with digital precision for articulation. The result is a lead that soars with clarity but also carries the imperfections and warmth that make it human.

Dimitris: How has your use of effects processing evolved, and how did it shape the atmosphere of Namek?

Roman Hope: My approach to effects has transformed completely. I no longer see them as decoration—they’re fundamental to storytelling. On “Namek,” I crafted atmosphere through modulated delays, granular textures, and layered reverb chains that create a sense of space and motion. Valhalla Delay and ArtsAcoustic Reverb were essential in giving the track its shimmering, breathing quality. By weaving effects into the composition rather than tacking them on, I was able to shape a sonic environment that pulls the listener into the world of the track.

Dimitris: How do you approach layering sounds to create depth and texture, and what specific methods or hardware did you apply in Namek?

Roman Hope: I treat layering like world-building. Each sound has a defined role and frequency space, and I always think of how it contributes to the overall picture. In “Namek,” I layered Diva pads with self-recorded atmospheric noises that I resampled and processed to create organic movement. I paid special attention to stereo imaging: the low end remains tight and mono, while the mids and highs bloom in stereo to create a sense of width and depth. This careful balance prevents clutter and makes the track feel three-dimensional.

Dimitris: When listeners hear Namek, what subtle sound design details or hardware-driven elements do you hope they’ll notice that reflect your technical growth as a producer?

Roman Hope: I hope they notice the little things—the whispers of evolving textures, the slight modulations in the background, the analog imperfections in the leads and pads. These details are where the soul of “Namek” lives. They show how I’ve grown from simply producing songs to constructing emotional experiences. My focus now is on depth, nuance, and creating a sonic world that rewards careful listening.

Dimitris: What are your future plans in terms of new releases, collaborations, or live performances?

Roman Hope: I’ve got several exciting releases lined up for next year, and I’m planning collaborations with artists I’ve admired for a long time. I’m also focused on expanding my live presence, with shows in Argentina, Asia, and Europe. Every release and performance is an opportunity to connect more deeply with listeners and share new chapters of my journey.

Dimitris: What advice would you give to aspiring DJs and producers looking to make their mark in the industry?

Roman Hope: Focus on your identity rather than chasing trends. Take the time to learn your tools and understand the foundations of music production. Experiment, be patient, and don’t rush to release tracks—building a strong artistic core is vital. Surround yourself with supportive people and stay consistent. Your unique voice is your best asset, and the industry will notice when your music reflects who you truly are.

Dimitris: Can you walk us through your DJing process and how performing live influences your production?

Roman Hope: My DJ sets are journeys. I prepare playlists based on mood and energy, but I always adapt in real time, reading the room and building tension and release with melodic and driving elements. Live performance has taught me how tracks interact with a crowd—the dynamics, the flow, the emotional arcs. Those lessons feed directly into the studio, influencing how I structure tracks, build tension, and design transitions for maximum impact.

Dimitris: Please tell us your final statement to our readers who will read this interview.

Roman Hope: Thank you for diving into the world of “Namek” with me. Every track I release is a piece of my story, and I hope my music continues to resonate with you in meaningful ways. I’m grateful for every listener and excited for the next chapters of this journey.

Roman Hope’s journey reflects the evolution of a true artist—transforming instinctive, raw creativity into sophisticated, emotionally rich storytelling through sound. With “Namek,” he delivers a track that embodies both his technical mastery and heartfelt expression.
