ALBUM: Various Artists - Anjunadeep pres. Reflections Vol. 1 on Anjunadeep

Anjunadeep, the label that introduced Lane 8, Dusky, Yotto, Cubicolor, Ben Böhmer and Eli & Fur to the world, have announced a new compilation series: ‘Reflections’. Marking the label’s 500th release, ‘Reflections Vol. 1’ is a collection of downtempo and ambient electronica from label stars like Yotto and Lane 8, breakout talent like Qrion and Nox Vahn and new faces like PBSR, Kitput and Vár Sofandi.

Label boss James Grant explains: “electronica and chillout were what first got me into electronic music and so it’s a very natural evolution for Anjunadeep to be expanding further in that direction via this new series.”

The compilation’s first single, 'It's All Over’, is from Sapporo-born, San Francisco-based producer Qrion. Touted as one of the world’s best up-and-coming artists by Mixmag, she’s landed major support slots for the likes of deadmau5, Tourist, and Porter Robinson. An eclectic selector and producer, ambient music has always been one of her passions. ‘It’s All Over’ is out now.

The album's second single comes courtesy of Anjunadeep legend Yotto with the piano led melodies of ‘Maggio’. Since making his debut on the label in 2015, Yotto has garnered a global following and resounding tastemaker backing; with steady support from BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong, Annie Mac and Danny Howard, while his 2018 debut album ‘Hyperfall’ reached #1 on Billboard’s Dance Album Chart, and saw him tour the world and play at Coachella. Since then Yotto has established his own label, Odd One Out, putting out a string of club cuts supported by the likes of Tale Of Us, Artbat and Eric Prydz.

Ahead of the full album release comes the compilation’s third and final single, captivating collaborative cut ‘Ready’ from Swedish producer and classically trained musician boerd and British multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Rondo Mo. Independently, both musicians have continued to turn heads in recent years with their own artist projects, with the likes of Mixmag, Billboard and BBC Radio 1’s Phil Taggart singing their praises, and now boerd and Rondo Mo join forces for their debut collaboration. Born out of a studio session one afternoon upon their first ever meeting in London at the close of 2019, ‘Ready’ sees the pair craft a perfectly dream-like vocal led production; leading with hypnotic Fender Rhodes chords woven between Rondo Mo’s velvet topline melodies.

‘Reflections Vol. 1’ also features an exclusive, piano-led piece from Yotto (‘Maggio’), the long-awaited full release of two Anjunadeep rarities (Lane 8’s ‘Apes & Children’ and Croquet Club’s ‘Slow Mo’) and label debuts from Germany’s Kitput, London’s PBSR and Finland’s Vár Sofandi.

‘Reflections Vol. 1’ is also available on a limited run of 500 12” vinyl.
