A program full of interactive discussions, keynotes and Q&A’s, workshops and more are awaiting students who aspire to be the music professionals of the future.
ADE is built around networking, letting the people of the industry actually spend some quality time with one another and reminding ourselves that dance music is a community above all else. This goes tenfold for ADE University. Here, a carefully selected group of young hopefuls who are starting out in the industry will get the hot-house treatment. They're getting face-to-face with people at the top of the game, and just as importantly receive a chance to network and feel plugged into the broader music world.
The memories come thick and fast from other attendees. “I remember the owner of I Love Techno Belgium talking about innovation in events and about game events,” says Kimberly Tanikromo, now working as San Holo’s Bit Bird label manager. “I remember artist managers talking about dealing with bad news and hearing a promoter talking about how they booked Daft Punk for 300 gulden when they weren't famous yet!” Carry Wagner, now tour coordinator for a booking agency, remembers meeting Martin Garrix's booker, Laidback Luke's former manager, and a non-stop carousel of company visits, backstage tours and much more.
Everyone will gain something different from the ADE University, but the crucial thing is the experience itself. “It gave me another chance,” says de Keizer, “To learn how to network better, meet new people in the process and learn new things". Wagner sums it up perfectly: “You cycle around the city from location to location to attend all these keynotes, backstage tours, company visits etc. It can be exhausting, especially when it rains. But it pays off - you learn a lot and you grow your network. I think this is a representation of how this industry works. Take as much in during ADE Uni, it does prepare you for what there is to come.”
The complete ADE University program can be found here and features speakers such as Headhunterz + team, Matrixxman, Ralph Echemendia (The Ethical Hacker) and Sasha/Late Night Tales as well as representatives from Ace Agency, Audio Obscura, Q-dance, the Seoul's underground dance scene and much more.
