ADE 2018: ADE's Country Focus events will feature South Africa and South Korea

Interactive new format at the DeLaMar Theater focuses on nine countries that are part of the global electronic music village and whose professionals attend the event for the last twenty years.

Last year ADE focused on China's dance industry with both a conference and festival program, and this year's edition welcomes nine countries to Amsterdam in October, including South Africa and South Korea.

Given its global nature, ADE has hosted panels about the countries that are part of the global electronic village and whose professionals attend the event for the last twenty years. The aim was always to represent all that is good about the scenes in those countries and to enable genuinely useful business connections to be made.

In order to maximise those two guiding principles, a new format will be implemented this year that includes a 20 minute keynote detailing all the most important players in the live and club scene, plus the managers and agents that make things happen, the labels and publishers who are involved in electronic music, and the tech platforms that dominate.

The keynote will be delivered by a person or small group who are neutral and able to reflect and describe the realities of the scene in each country. The keynote is followed by an organised networking session where people interested in working with the companies from the featured country get the chance to meet and exchange contacts.

Alongside the globally famous Black Coffee, South Africa is home to The Real Estate Agents, Okmalumkoolkat, Mujava and Vinny Da Vinci. South Korea's scene is dominated by K-Pop artists including BTS, Girls' Generation and BIGBANG, alongside a thriving underground scene that includes Neon Bunny, Oohyo and Cabinett. Delegates wishing to hear about and make contact with the people and companies behind these and other acts can do so in these highly focused one-hour sessions.
