Handpicked by curators Jody Wisternoff & James Grant, the pair offer up four memorable moments from this year’s flagship ‘Anjunadeep 09’ compilation. Featuring a selection of the label’s freshest talents, the sampler introduces Anjuna debutants Kieran Apter and Leon Power, Fairchild, Savvas as well as marking the return of Aiiso.

Following on from his debut solo outing with ‘Your Love Is An Echo EP’ earlier this year, we welcome back Russ Davies a.k.a Aiiso to the label with his spacey and atmospheric ‘Gravity’. Next, Edinburgh-based Kieran Apter and Leon Power offer up the mellow, vocal-laden track ‘Drifting Spring’, while rising US producer Fairchild brings new energy with the bass-driven ‘The Light In You’. Rounding off the EP on a more contemplative note, Greek DJ and producer Savvas presents his tranquil ‘Nostalgia’.

Summary

Anjunadeep mixed compilations reach the top of the various charts because James and Jody select always the very best tracks that create that fantastic unique Anjunadeep atmosphere characterised from its incredible warmth. First Gravity by Aiiso is deep melodic progressive house at its finest with cinematic vintage strings, beautiful synths, ambient vocal samples and great sound design that sounds like a fairy tale but told with music. Drifting Spring by Kieran Apter & Leon Power has the right hypnotic groove, lazy sexy rhythm with organic percussion, delicate strings, colourful electronic synths and distorted mysterious vocals that add the melancholic touch in a very subliminal and subconscious way. The Light In You by Fairchild is the more upfront cut with great drive, wobbly grooves, rolling deep basslines, ethereal distorted vocals and balearic airy fairy atmosphere to carry you away. Lastly Nostalgia by Savvas is very deep chunky production that manage to keep you hooked and mesmerized from start to finish.
