ADE 2016: ADE adds the Dutch National Opera

Electronic Dance Opera Before Present takes place at Noorderlicht on the post-industrial NDSM Shipyard site on ADE's Wednesday and Thursday.

After recent announcements about the The School of Life's ADE participation and the 2016 MusicTalks, it is time for another Playground announcement. For the first time ever, ADE is proud to announce that the Dutch National Opera will be participating in this year’s program.

Bringing together the multi-disciplinary aspects that make dance music and opera so equally fantastic, Before Present will present the classical world of opera reinterpreted for a modern, electronic audience.

Taking place at Noorderlicht, located on the post-industrial NDSM Shipyard site, the event will take place on the 19th and the 20st. Billed as an Electronic Dance Opera, Before Present is a collaboration between stage director Sjaron Minailo, Dutch DJ/producer Sjamsoedin (from the collective, Nobody Beats the Drum), and vocalist Anat Spiegel, who some from the Netherlands may also recognize from her work with Controllar.
“I like the way Sjamsoedin thinks about music,” Minailo says about putting everything together. The experiment has seen Spiegel work with Sjamsoedin, with vocals and music works remixed into an electronic format. “Anat has been my musical collaborator for 20 years now, and this will be a huge challenge for her to sing with an electronic accompaniment.” The 45-min piece serves as examination of and reflection on our current times and state, as seen from the future, asking questions as to the relevancy of the here and now.
Before Present is part of the ADE SLEEP/OVER program.

Wednesday October 19 & Thursday October 20.
Noorderlicht, 9pm - 9.45pm.
