The pioneering conference on sustainability, innovation and social change features great speakers, panels and workshops for both the ecologically-minded and those who are yet to be convinced of the value and relevance of sustainable practices.
After recent announcements about our collaboration with The Dutch National Opera and The School of Life's ADE participation, we turn our focus to ADE Green. The event at De Brakke Grond on ADE's Wednesday features a variety of panels and workshops with thought leaders and disruptive minds, here's an overview of what to expect:
- Festival Voices moderated by Alison Tickell of Julie’s Bicycle features Joris Beckers of Tomorrowland, Boom Festival’s Arthur Mendes and Chris Johnson from the UK festival Shambala, opening up about the challenges and opportunities created by sustainable management at major festivals.
- Researcher Marianne J.E. van der Heijden will be presenting the panel Music As Medicine, where poses the question ‘Is the road to health paved with music?’. She currently works as a researcher at the Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam where she is part of the Music as Medicine (MAM) research group.
- Oscar-nominated director Josh Fox (GASLAND) will be at ADE Green for the premiere of his movie How to Let Go of the World and Love All The Things Climate Can't Change. The film continues in Fox’s deeply personal style, investigating climate change. Josh Fox will be present for a Q/A after the screening.
- The Dance for a Better World panel moderated by Tommie Sunshine will start with a talk by Shailendra Singh, the founder of the Sunburn Festival and head of Percept. He also co-founded the World’s Biggest (charity) Guest List, to help educate impoverished kids in India. DJ Dave Clarke will also be joining Singh for the panel discussion as well as several other major artists including Sunnery James, Ryan Marciano and Laidback Luke.
- Open-House will launch a new program during ADE Green that the organisation developed with the Netherlands Red Cross where festivals will be the testing ground for innovations for refugee camps.
- This year ADE Green is running a series of in-depth workshops where initiatives like the reusable festival cup (Hard cups) are to be presented, plus there is an in-depth workshop about sustainable event management. Green Events Nederland will offer tips and tricks for a Waste Free Festival and you can attend the workshop about sanitation, where they explain why poop might be the new gold.
- Babette Porcelijn, writer of the book ‘De Verborgen Impact’ (The Hidden Impact) will discuss what the right choice of food is, whether biological, local and vegetarian, and the impact this choice has on the environment alongside with DGTL, Welcome to the Future and Ieperfest in the panel Happy Belly, Happy Planet, The Truth Behind Food Choices.
