ADE 2016: Daniel Miller to keynote on the importance of spontaneity in music

Mute Records founder and passionate photographer to appear in Creative Keynote at ADE, plus a special street art and Mute artists session at ADE MusicTalks.

After the recent announcements of Molly Neuman's keynote, ADE Live and ADE University's expanded offer we can now reveal the latest confirmed keynote Q&A and first announcement for ADE MusicTalks. At ADE Pro Daniel Miller will be using his street photography to illustrate how the creative process can benefit from knowing how and when to seize the moment.

They say that patience is a virtue and in this case it could not be more true, because an idea that was first discussed five years ago has finally come to fruition: “Back in 2011 I was invited by ADE director Richard Zijlma to talk about photography and music,” reveals Miller. “Then it took me five years to figure out what to say. I am going to concentrate on the creative process rather than on photographs of musicians, and the link in my life between street photography and modular synthesis.”

Street art and Mute artists session at ADE MusicTalks
Alongside his talk at ADE Pro, Miller will also be appearing at ADE MusicTalks with a mixture of the above mentioned street images, as well as a selection of shots of Mute acts from the label’s long history. The illustrated talk will feature previously unseen images of acts such as Fad Gadget and Depeche Mode. Miller will also be taking part in the panel Best and Worst of Being a Label in the 21st Century, alongside Eelko van Kooten of Spinnin’ Records, Jon Berry of Kompakt Records and Hospital Records’ Chris Goss.

Date, time and venue for all sessions to be announced.
