REVIEW: MHE - The Sounds Of Silence incl Ferreck Dawn and Afterlife remix on D:Vision

Following on from his critically acclaimed debut single ‘The Thrill Is Gone’ - which got club and radio support from Pete Tong to David Guetta all the way to Alesso, Bakermat, Benny Benassi, Bob Sinclar, Laurent Garnier, Maya Jane Coles, Michel Cleis, Nervo, Sam Feldt, Steve Angello and The Avener, d:vision new boy MHE aka Gianni Romano is back with another smash hit.

The former Daddy’s Groove member is on point again with this track, bringing a stunning rework of Simon & Garfunkel’s iconic, timeless ‘The Sounds Of Silence’.

By adding in a thumping, groove-infused house beat and a club filling bassline packed with the right amount of sing-a-long sensibility and glorious synth melodies, he’s updated the 1964 classic to a modern and groovy elemental piece. Killer.

While the original is already causing havoc in clubland getting played by the likes of David Guetta, Afrojack, Axwell, EDX, Joe Stone, Kaskade, Lost Frequencies, Moguai, Nervo, Nora En Pure, Sam Feldt, Sander Van Door, Steve Angello, Steve Aoki, The Avener, Tiesto and Watermat, we’ve just received an amazing remix by new age Deep House heavyweight Ferreck Dawn.

The Dutch talent, an expert at melding irresistible grooves and infectious toplines, continues on the prospect of opening things up to a wider audience whilst maintaining that essential club functionality.
The original’s standout vocals are still in full swing, but Ferrecks’ stripped back and polished production, along with a scintillating melodic progression take the track on a whole new form.
This is sure to be a future anthem.

With December creeping around the corner, it’s about time to start curating your playlists for those lazy days, and this beautiful Afterlife Remix of ‘The Sounds Of Silence’ by MHE will instantly get you into the Christmas spirit after hearing the opening few bars.

Still kept the original standout vocals center of the song, UK chill out legend Afterlife fuses this timeless classic with a far calmer affair featuring a blissful Balearic groove and glorious synth melodies, generating a modern laid back sound.
This one is the perfect Christmas tune. Enjoy!

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

"Fools" said I
"You do not know, silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed
In the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming.
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence.

Dimitri Kechagias review: D:Vision is one of the most classy record labels out from Italy. Their latest release is a magnificent remake of the classic Simon and Garfunkel iconic The Sounds Of Silence by the upcoming house DJ & producer MHE. The package includes 3 magical remixes to choose from and spread the beauty of this eclectic production. The original mix is moving in the deep house direction with tribal techy grooves, deep haunting basslines, smooth arrangement, xylophone melodies, dreamy piano chords and beautiful guitars that add the folk element to it. The truth is that is very risky idea to produce a version that can outcome the original but MHE impress the listener with the beats and haunting basslines along with the excellent melodic layers facilitating the strengths of the original and enhancing it even more. Afterlife transform the original into a liquid dark melancholic chill out version perfect to relax and let the pressure dilute into the unknown with laid back liquid smooth groove and cinematic atmosphere that absorb your senses and awake your feelings. Ferreck Dawn remix is an exceptional remix that emphasise the dramatic folk part of the guitar riff in the breakdown while the drop is very danceable and upbeat with certain country/folk AVICII influences.  If the original sounds too dreamy then this remix pushes the rhythm and groove a little bit higher and turn it into an upfront house hit! If you consider the dark sexy mysterious video then the package is complete for a worldwide hit! I Love IT very much! #PureGold Love It
