Virkhaus, Martin & Neel
On the back of previously announced speakers Vello Virkhaus (V Squared Labs, US) and Peter Martin (VALIS Studio, US), we are delighted to welcome Neel (IT) to this years program. Neel's considerable output fuses rhythm and texture with techno and ambience in hugely captivating ways, as first heard on Voices From the Lake, his collaboration with Donato Dozzy. His solo debut album Phobos (2014) set new standards for ambient music and his live performances feature an immersive AV show accompanied by visuals from Berlin based artist Yko. The show has been performed previously at places like Mutek and Berlin Atonal. At ADE Beamlab, Neel will discuss how he and Yko prepared the show and talk us through the live set-up of the Phobos AV. Later that week, Neel will perform live as Voices From The Lake at Studio 80 on Friday October 16.
Videosync
Showsync duo Mattijs Kneppers (NL) and Hidde de Jong (NL) have been working on developing the Videosync system, and will present their first public version of this software tool at ADE Beamlab. Videosync makes it possible to perform with video in Ableton Live, allowing live video to be synchronised with music. Showsync have been working with artists such as Kölsch and Feed Me, as well as at festivals like Dekmantel and VOLTT, syncing video and lighting with the music. At ADE Beamlab, anyone with a recent Mac computer can download the tool on the spot and work with it themselves!
Kölsch mini-peformance
Demonstrating the many possibilities of video-synching during a live show, we’re proud to announce that Kölsch (DK) will present an exclusive mini-performance. Kölsch has been working and touring with Showsync and will team up with them again at DGTL on Saturday October 17 at the NDSM Docklands. During ADE Beamlab he will give a sneak preview of his set.
AlexP (NL), whose interactive video-mapping work ‘Crowd’ won the audience award at Beamlab Open Air at the Amsterdam Light Festival in 2014, will be taking care of the official ADE Beamlab video-mapping on the exterior of Pakhuis de Zwijger.
