London based duo Solomon Grey first appeared on Anjunadeep with their much loved collaboration with Lane 8, ‘Diamonds’. They return to the label with John Monkman’s sublime remix of ‘Twilight’.
The remix began life as a bootleg after John heard the original during an episode of The Casual Vacancy on BBC1, which was scored by Solomon Grey. Unaware of their link to Anjunadeep, John sent the remix over and the rest if history!
With early support from Jonas Rathsman, Skream and Lane 8 amongst others, John’s remix is a soaring dancefloor weapon, built around haunting female vocals, a driving groove and emotive atmospherics.
Dimitri Kechagias review: The history of electronic music is always written by djs who produce bootleg versions of tracks that inspire them to do so. Of course that means sometimes the commissioned remixers don't feel the tracks and they do it just for the fee. In this case John Monkman wonderfully listened on TV this great record and delivered the stunning remix that will get many plays on the deep house stages of the summer festivals and will keep us warm and comforting company during the winter too. Twilight by Solomom Grey is transformed into an epic odyssey of emotional cinematic strings, electronic sweet melodies, warm airy pads and fantastic deep basslines along with tribal tropical grooves and great percussion that adds vitality and liveliness on the final result. It's simply impossible not to get deeply infected from this record that is dark, melancholic, cinematic and arty with class and elegance! #PureDiamond. Love iT
