REVIEW: Besnine - A New Era E.P. out on The Bearded Man / Armada Music

There’s no room in The Bearded Man’s heart for hatred. None. Don’t forget that. Even still, there’s one thing he hates. Stroopwafels. With stroopwafels, there’s no middle ground. You’re either a current/former junky, or you’ve never heard of them before. Even a good man will turn into a maniac in the presence of a warm, fresh stroopwafel. The Bearded Man had to spend the better part of TWO DECADES trying to learn how to love again, after battling his way back from a crippling addiction that left him penniless and absolutely, unquestionably uninsurable for dental care. It was the beautiful women of the world, who collectively said to The Bearded Gent: “Come back to me!” that brought him back to life. And then, a new era, post-stroopwafels, began, with Besnine’s funky tunes as the soundtrack.

Don’t make the same mistakes The Bearded Man did, and remember: “Stroopwafels: Not. Even. Once.”

Dimitri Kechagias review: The Bearded Man never disappoints and guess what they have discovered in their offices in Amsterdam. The superb Besnine from Paris, France and they come with a magnificent EP called A New Era. First track is A New Era that is not easy to categorize and this exactly is its great beauty. The track resists to become something is rather a great epic production with funky French house touches, epic synths, robotic vocals, cinematic atmospheric and heavy break beat that sounds like the opening titles of a fantastic sci-fi movie. How To Love is a totally different style as it moves in the acid  jazz house tradition with funky disco basslines, emotional piano melodies and superb energetic crescendo moment that will blow you away with electric guitars that will recall great rock bands of the 80's.  The vocals are strange and seductive so let yourself get infected from them.  Come Back To Me is moving towards the French funky disco house tradition with certain Nile Rodgers influences on it. Superb Saturday Night Fever atmosphere so expect to see John Travolta coming at the dancefloor to dance with his perfect disco moves. Certain melodramatic moments are added as well so you will enjoy it. Don't Forget is a truly surprising record that starts with heavy dose of electric guitar but after the children choir the atmosphere becomes very sweet and mellow with funky basslines and lazy tripping out Sunday afternoon style groove. Good Man is a calming relaxing pop friendly record with funky basslines, great synths and acoustic guitar that brings to your mind country music. Great feel good lyrics and hypnotic atmosphere wins your attention straight away. Lastly The Crash is great track with live organic feel, great guitar licks, bassline that rocks and cinematic strings. It's the perfect instrumental track to close this cinematic EP in truly end titles style!Looking forward for some Armada Deep and Bearded Man artists to turn this track into club dynamites. #PureGold Love It
