This is the Deeper Shades of Black!
Dimitri Kechagias review: Paul Oakenfold is well known for his ability to understand what really is fresh and exciting in the dance scene and bring this sound to the masses. After his big support for psy trance that continues until nowadays, the beloved legend supports the deeper style of trance that has been abandoned and it seems that has some fantastic artists who are composing on that particular sound from all over the world. Deeper shades of Black is an excellent compilation that works as you introduction to this particular sound if you are not already familiar with it. Let's take a closer look on the exclusives included in this must have compilation. Greenhaven DJs are represented with Portal. Deep dark but very melodic and driving track that make you feel like moving in places and spaces and facilitate every second of your pleasure. Philthy Chit brings his superb Follow Me. This track has housey tribal groove, deep pulsating basslines and old school sunkissed Ibiza infused piano chords that add to the track its upfront feel good atmosphere. It is perfect as mood changer.
Benjani presents Extremadura that is driving deep trancer with certain old school EYEQ trance feeling to it. Packed with Jean Michel Jarre synths, heavenly voices and euphoric synths, it's another outstanding attention grabber. Chris Oblivion from Greece delivers Miss The Island and Sunset Over Little Palace. Miss The Island is a melodic classy old school dreamy trancer with fantastic subbass, pounding drums and pulsating basslines that push the action forward and take you on board for a journey to your favourite magic Island preferably in Greece. Sunset Over Little Palace is deep haunting trancer with influences from great artists like Airwave. Nearly 9 minutes of emotional soundscapes and heavy club action that will move you and draw you into what we all term as a state of trance where reality vanishes in favour of your preferred world. Russia is represented as well with the beloved Rise and Fall and his tracks Tension and Wide Range. Tension is moving towards the progressive house direction with chunky grooves and cool percussion upon pulsating basslines and cinematic strings while the melodies are there but understated and distanced. Wide Range continues on the same dark and cold road with distorted voices upon the rolling basslines and the tribal grooves. The melodies are coming and going and the tension is build up throughout to keep you interested and truly absorbed. #PureGold Love It
