Sigma, aka Cameron Edwards and Joe Lenzie, have revealed their first release for 2015, ‘Higher’, featuring Labrinth. ‘Higher’ was premiered across radio and will be released on 22 March; the track will precede a further single and their debut artist album entitled, ‘Life’ (expected early summer).
2014 was Sigma’s most successful year to date, capped with their first TV live performances at the BBC Music Awards and the Christmas Day edition of Top Of The Pops, plus their appearance at Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball and a co-headline slot at UKF’s New Year’s Eve event at Brixton Academy.
They were the only group in 2014 to have back-to-back No.1 singles in the form of ‘Nobody To Love’ and ‘Changing’ (featuring Paloma Faith), with both shifting over 100,000 copies in their first week. Sigma have now sold 1.75 million singles worldwide in just 10 months, gone Platinum in the UK (‘NTL’) and Gold for ‘Changing’ in Germany, and Benelux, and Platinum in Australia and New Zealand (‘NTL’). They’ve hit 432,844 worldwide radio plays and reached a radio audience of 1 billion, and held the UK TV Airplay Chart No.1 spot for 11 weeks combined. ‘Nobody To Love’ recently became the first drum & bass track to hit 100 million YouTube views, with the tally for both singles fast approaching 120 million.
2015 festival bookings include Snowbombing, Future Music Festival and Electric Daisy Carnival. These follow 2014 shows across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia, including two sold out dates at Ministry of Sound, Glastonbury, Global Gathering, Ibiza Rocks and Bestival.
With stunning vocals from Labrinth, ‘Higher’ also sees Sigma once again collaborating with UK songwriting giants TMS and Wayne Hector (with whom they made ‘Changing’).
Outside of their own releases, Sigma have shored up their reputation as an in demand remix duo, with 2014 mixes for the likes of Kiesza (‘Hideaway’), Route 94 (‘My Love’), Clean Bandit (‘Extraordinary’), DJ Fresh (‘Dibby Dibby Sound’) and DJ Zinc (‘Show Me’).
Leeds University alumni – alongside Rusko – Sigma met while balancing raving and studying, working in record shops and promoting events to top up their student loans. Early releases with Hospital Records, Viper, Bingo and DJ Fresh’s Breakbeat Kaos, as well as their own Life Recordings, quickly marked them out as producers to watch, while remixes for Eric Prydz, Ellie Goulding, Stylo G and Sway began to take them to a wider audience.

Grades remix is superb melodic deep house version with driving basslines, punchy drums, great percussion, superb application of the original vocal parts and classic piano chords. Jay Montero remix is classic balearic Ibiza style version with classic organ riffs and euphoric synths to please the masses. Kideko remix is the minimal eclectic classy deep house version that pitches down the vocal while the bassline is doing the real damage while the chorus is supported by melodramatic guitars and old school piano chords.
