REVIEW: Paul van Dyk & Roger Shah ft. Daphne Khoo - Louder incl remixes out soon on New State Music

Lest you hadn’t caught the thread, Collaborations, with a capital C are the name of the ‘POD3’ game. Following a string of album-initiating, floor-commanding singles, March sees ‘Politics 3’ flip its fourth co-op card. Having already teamed up with Ummet Ozcan, Aly & Fila and others, ‘Louder’ finds Paul van Dyk sharing studio time with that most Balearically minded of men, Roger Shah.

Adding to ‘Louder’s already exotic equation is Australian-born/Singapore-raised/Manhattan-based singer Daphne Khoo. Collectively the three have come up with something that’s as irrepressibly catchy and spirit-filled, as it is floor intoxicating.

Available through NewState, March 16th 2015
A PvD/Roger Shah studio team-up has been a long discussed waiting-to-happen for the pair. Only through the genesis of ‘The Politics of Dancing 3’ though has that collaboration finally reached fruition.

A departure from the trancier ethics of recent singles ‘Guardian’ & ‘Only In A Dream’, the Club Mix delivers something designed to light the upcoming festival season up brighter-than-bright. Daphne Khoo, a first season finalist on Singapore Idol and no stranger to the stage, is the songstress that brings ‘Louder’ its head-rush ebullience.

Adding some trance shades & grades to ‘Louder’s release, the first two remixes come courtesy of PvD’s VANDIT Records lieutenants Maarten de Jong & Ben Nicky. Netherlander de Jong hikes the furnace levels up to ‘big ‘n’ blistering’, distilling marching drums, tech-fried FX and rave-ish riffs into his mix. A keen balance of the harmonic and the euphoric, Ben Nicky ups ‘Louder’s uplift ante no end, giving it loads of warp, squelch and pitch wheel fury for good measure.

Avalanching the atmosphere still further, Hungarians Myon & Shane 54 draw the worlds of house & trance creatively together with an M1 piano-led ride. Maximising the emotion of Daphne’s vocal, their Summer of Love Remix is less of the feel-good and more of the feel-great!

Collectively, a release so large, it should technically require some sort of planning permission, ‘POD3’ gets ‘Louder’ on March 2nd!

Dimitri Kechagias review: The unstoppable Paul van Dyk is about to release his brand new Politics of Dancing vol. 3 compilation and everybody is anxious to find out the tracks that will be included in it. One of the exclusives is the brand new Paul collaboration with balearic master Roger Shah. The result is a magnificent modern progressive house smasher with thumping grooves, pumping basslines and euphoric synthy hooks that of course have the Paul van dyk signature by far. The vocal is the coolest that you can think and Daphne is a promising singer with  a lot of talent to offer to the world. If you search for the next Miami anthem you just found it. The remix package is simply on the spot. First of all the beloved Myon & Shane 54 Summer Of Love Mix is an exceptional progressive trance meets house version with the words peak time written all over it. Heavy drums, pulsating basslines and superb breakdown that allows the vocal to expand and breathe in full effect for the listener who will no resist to sing along with hands in the air. The drop is hands in the air euphoric with anthemic high nrg trancy synthy stabs on the style that the two beloved Hungarians know so well to produce.  For the non vocal loves the package includes the dub mixes as well. Next is Maarten De Jong who delivers the tough driving tech trance version with pounding metallic basslines, tribal punchy drums, acid overtones and excellent breakdown packed with euphoric synths. The climax goes on the more hands in the air prog trance direction with great colourful synths that uplift your senses to the heaven above.  Last but not least Ben Nicky Remix moves on the euphoric uplifting hands in the air version with straight forward energetic driving basslines, pounding drums and superb synths. The vocal seems to work well within uplifting trance context and particularly his remix is so beautifully made. Long and teasing packed with synths that raise the hair from your back along with balearic guitars and piano chords. The climax is tech trance focused with heavy basslines, raw drums  and vocal chops. Louder is superb hit with top remixes. #PureGold Love It
