1. Original Mix
Orkidea’s last single venture, the purer-than-pure ‘Purity’, stoked floor fires bright throughout the autumn.
Drawing substantial deck & radio show rotation from Armin van Buuren and multitude of other tier-1 DJs, press-side it was hailed is as “a real treat!” with Tilllate scoring it a red-hot 9.5/10. The UK’s DJ Mag meanwhile described it as having a “doomy dash of ‘Bladerunner’ with several tablespoons of ‘Oxygène’ about it”. For his next release, the flying Fin, delves even deeper into the latter’s sonic gene pool, with a stunning retro-futuristic revision from the Jean-Michel Jarre universe.
He’s taken the legendary composer’s 1988 classic ‘Revolution Industrielle’ and, bringing all his accrued production knowledge to bear, repurposed it for 21st century clubbers.
Orkidea brilliantly, assuredly recasts JMJ’s ‘Revolution Industrielle’ as a deep-into-the-night club floor titan, utilizing masterful chord transposal and emotion-spiking Roland D-50 synths to retain the original’s soundscape feel & drama.
A release with one foot in the past… and the other most firmly in the future, to quote ‘Revolution Industrielle’ itself, it’s “today, tomorrow… forever”.
Dimitri Kechagias review: The beloved Finish dj and producer Orkidea strikes back on the main label of Black Hole recordings with a brilliant rework of the classic Jean Michel Jarre anthem Revolution Industrielle. Orkidea sound is definitely most closer on that synthesizer sound that became famous by Mr Jarre himself who answered in my question at the ADE 2014 if he approves new versions of his tracks and he answered that he really enjoys them. From the time his music is released he feels that belongs to everybody who communicates with his sounds. Orkidea is wonderful when he builds sonic microworlds and magical experiences and here he does it in the most explicit way. His takes in his studio the original and turn it into a magnificent power trancer with psy trancy kick and bassline that drives the track forward with great strings and synths that are epic, gigantic and can move your senses without doubts. The robotic vocals work great to create that futuristic approach that any trance night needs in its atmosphere. Dreamy, travelling and most importantly though provoking instrumental trancer that awakes imagination and reminds us all of how good is music that doesn't tell you what to think. It rather tracks like this one manage to show you a path and its up to you to follow it against dragons and fairies of a distant future. #PureGold Love It
