BEST OF 2014: Interview with Hard To Find Records Download shop in Birmingham UK

Hard To Find Records  has been around for over twenty years. In fact, they are as much a part of the dance music scene as electricity.

According to their About us page:
" We were there for the warehouse raves of the early 90s. We were there when The Prodigy's debut album changed the world in 1992. We were there in 1994 when the government introduced the Criminal Justice Act banning free parties. We were there when the Hacienda closed its doors for the last time in 1997. We were there when Tiesto opened the Athens Olympics in 2004. We were there when Technics discontinued the SL-1200 in 2010. We were there for the euphoric highs of trance and the scraping lows of dubstep. We were there.

IT'S NO SURPRISE THAT HARD TO FIND RECORDS IS THE #1 DESTINATION FOR MUSIC AFICIONADOS AND DJ'S ALIKE

Name: Hard To Find Records Download
Location: Birmingham UK

1) Best Track:
Hard To Find Records Download: It has to be Higher Self feat. Lauren Mason - Ghosts. A great slice of 4 to the floor house music that has a super catchy hook. Expect big things from Higher Self next year if this is anything to go by.

2) Best Artist (Dj & producer):
Hard To Find Records Download: On the DJ tip - Hot Since 82. Seen this guy on a number of occasions this year & each time he was way way on top of his game. A notable hat tip to Eats Everything also, he’s been on fire in the clubs! The British boys are killing it at the moment.

3) Best Remix:
Hard To Find Records Download: The Arty remix of London Grammar "Hey Now". Such a stunning remix and really opened the track up to so many dance floors, the Trance Boys got onto it, the house heads were using it to add a melodic touch in their sets and even the big room EDM DJs were dropping it. Stunning!!

4) Best Remixer:
Hard To Find Records Download:  Remix wise, for us this has to go to the Russian sensation Arty. His remix of London Grammar's "Hey Now" was absolutely stunning, he did such a good job on it. The recent remix he's done for Porter Robinson isn't too shabby either.

5) Best New Talent (Dj or producer):
Hard To Find Records Download: Oliver Heldens. The boy has come from next to nothing to the top of the pile in the last 12 months with a steady flow of club bangers. Looks set to follow on from Duke Dumont's success last year in the crossover house come chart material.

6) Best Electronic Music Album:
Hard To Find Records Download:  Aphex Twin – Syro. Simply because it had been about 15 years since his last work and nobody really knew what to expect… Masterpiece!!

7) Best Electronic Music Compilation:
Hard To Find Records Download: Toolroom Ibiza 2014 – a superb selection of tracks that proved to be the essential summer soundtrack. It was on heavy rotation in the HTFR offices from May ‘til September.

8) Best artwork/cover of an Album or Compilation:
Hard To Find Records Download:  The Perfecto 2014 Best Of is a stand out one for us, retro yet catchy, a decent pack shot goes a long way in digital content placement!

9) Best Electronic Music Label:
Hard To Find Records Download:  Suara. Any label that can keep up with a release per week schedule and constantly put out big club records has to be doing something right. From techno, tech house to deep house they always deliver the goods each week. The cat loving Coyu and his A&R team have done a brilliant job.

10) Best Event or Open Air Festival:
Hard To Find Records Download: Xstatic Summer Festival. This great little midlands based dance festival is into its 3rd year and the added extra of the Fantazia Oldskool arena really hit it off with the midlands masses. Jaguar Skills also absolutely smashed the closing set on the main stage!!

11) Best Online Record shop that you purchase your music:
Hard To Find Records Download:  www.HTFRD.com

12) Best Dj equipment (software or hardware):
Hard To Find Records Download: The new software update for Rekordbox for us really was top notch. Made set preparation so much more fun and opened up new doors in regards to being more creative.

13) Best piece of News you learnt this year related to Electronic Music Culture:
Hard To Find Records Download: That Annie Mac, Pete Tong & B.Traits BBC Radio 1 shows had all been extended to 3 hours. Friday nights got a whole lot better!!!

Thanks so much to Hard To Find Records download shop staff  for replying to this interview.

Thanks to Simon Tillotson – PR Manager at SLK Associates Limited for his support to organise the interview.
