REVIEW: Betsie Larkin & Andy Moor - Not Afraid incl remixes & music video on AVA recordings

1.Original mix
2. Somna Remix
3. White Zoo Remix

After doing serious damage on the charts, AVA092 see’s the return of Betsie Larkin & Andy Moor’s Not Afraid to the schedule with two packs of remixes. Kickstarting the round of remixes is the aptly titled “Remixes Part 1” which features Somna and White Zoo.

Label regular Somna returns to AVA to deliver a stunning remix which packs club flavored elements while retaining the subtle beauties that Betsie Larkin & Andy Moor have created in their original.
Big airy chorded synthesizer leads fill the spectrum without taking away from Betsie’s emotionally charged vocals while an aggressive low end carries weight within the spectrum for maximum impact. Big hands in the air stuff for the trance 2.0 fans!

On the flipside, White Zoo warps and twists the track into new territories. We had a discussion in the AVA offices and one word that kept popping up was “wacky”. Busting borders with creative uses of wobbles and square leads, White Zoo surprises with his remix and the complexity of his arrangement. This remix encompasses everything that complextro and electro are all about and if you’re after an alternative mix, this is the one for you!

Dimitri Kechagias review: Andy Moor is not just an amazing dj who knows how to handle his crowd with care and entertaining them in inspiring directions but also he is fantastic producer with immense abilities. His tracks are very danceable and approachable thanks to the brilliant melodies and great singers that he is co-operating with. His second collaboration with the beloved singer Betsie Larkin is absolutely phenomenal. Beautiful voice with that indie rock direction and superb lyrics that have a point to make and give some direction if you search to be inspired from music. Not Afraid is powerful progressive trance with hi-nrg pulsating basslines, punchy grooves and sensitive melodies combined with euphoric synths that elevate Betsie's performance even higher. The 1st remix package includes Somna remix that as always is first class production with techy grooves, electro infused sharp basslines, marching drums and superb cinematic breakdown that builds the tension easily towards the hands in the air euphoric climax that will move big crowds and bring people closer to each other. The second remix opens the track to a wider audience as White Zoo service the more banging electro house version with that Mat Zo influence in it. Grungy sharp aggressive basslines, pumping pounding kicks and playful application of the vocal by pitching it up and down. While the breakdown sounds more euphoric and trancy the climax is rough and can work well in those smashed and freaked out late night sets! Looking forward for the second set of remixes. Love It
