ADE 2014: Discover The Next Level Festivals at ADE

Big indoor and outdoor events are changing faster than ever before, and it is all being driven by new technologies and the possibilities they offer. That is why ADE Pro has brought together some of the finest minds in eventing at Next Level Festivals.

Integrating state of the art technologies like Virtual Reality and wearable technology into large-scale live events is still in its early stages where intelligent wrist-bands and other wearables are now slowly becoming common. But the broader possibilities are enormous, allowing organisers to create both mass virtual experiences using Oculus Rift-style headsets, and wearable speaker technologies opening the doors to new levels of interactivity and immersion throughout every stage and aspect of an event.

But what we really need to understand here is how much technology is enough? And what sorts of virtual experiences do the crowds really want? Do they, for example want to strap on a speaker pack and feel the music in their bones? And will all this hyper modern stuff take them away from the point of the whole thing, which is the artists and the show? And even if it does, is that in fact opening up another whole new chapter of possibilities for event organisers? Top eventing names such as Insomnia's Pasquale Rotella, Sebastian Solano of Life In Colour/SFX, Alvaro Prol of Canadian event organisers Blueprint, Rahul Kukreja of The Livescape Group and Hans van Leeuwen from Sendrato, will be pooling their knowledge of the event scene in order to draw a picture of what a typical event might look like several years from now at the Next Level Festivals! panel.

And there's even more big stuff, this time at ADE Beamlab, in the form of Arcadia Spectacular, whose amazing machine was one of the highlights at this year's Glastonbury festival. The team behind this immense mechanical structure will be discussing the construction and conception of it, and of course looking at the potential pitfalls of having thousands of moving parts situated outdoors at an event where rain is a regular feature. Added to that, an expanded ADE Beamlab also features Paula Temple, 2562 Live, I Am Hardwell World Tour behind the scenes, plus exclusive insights and workshops on October 15 and 16.
