ADE 2014: ADE Beamlab presents 2562 Live with visuals by Heleen Blanken

Dave Huismans' LP The New Today will be exclusively previewed with an artist Q&A and live audio-visual showcase at Pakhuis de Zwijger on October 16.

Ask any fan of contemporary electronic music about its most consistently singular and innovative artists, and it's likely the name of Dutchman Dave Huismans will pop up. Whether it's under his postcode alias 2562, or as A Made Up Sound, he pulls off that rare thing of being genuinely surprising with nearly every new release while maintaining an identity that is undeniably his own. Huismans will release his next 2562 LP 'The New Today' on 20th October through his own label, When In Doubt. It's his first material as 2562 since 2012's Air Jordan EP, and the new work is inspired by travel—it was written during a six-week stay in New York in the summer of 2013, before being finished at Huismans's home studio in Utrecht.

Alongside his appearance at ADE Beamlab, Dave Huismans will give an insight into his versatile way of working as a producer during an In The Studio With 2562 session at ADE Next on Saturday October 18.

The sleeve image is taken from microscopic camera footage filmed by Heleen Blanken, who collaborates with Huismans on live audio-visual shows. Dutch artist Blanken works with a range of visual mediums, defining the indefinable, giving life to lifeless objects, and finding organic beauty in abstract and natural forms. As well as directing her own short films, she tours the world with Ben Klock for his Klockworks showcases, and is resident visual artist at Trouw. She also recently made a semi-abstract video for the widely respected German DJ and Berghain favourite Rodhad's track Helldiver.
