It was the10th anniversary of Tomorrowland in 2014, which has been recognised as the best global electronic dance music festival at the IDMA awards in Miami. It was impressive, and will remain unforgettable for those who had the luck to secure one of the 360,00 tickets that were sold in just an hour! Some attend the first super hot weekend and the second a bit cooler as the temperature dropped, but extremely hot and spicy too. Both weekends included the finest DJ sets from the hottest names in the Electronic Dance Music culture, including David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Hardwell, Tiesto, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, W & W, Martin Solveig, Laidback Luke, Carl Cox, Afrojack, Avicii, Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz, and the list goes on. The line up was 80% the same for both weekends and the main changes were at the smaller stages.
One of the DJ’s who had the honour to perform both weekends was the Norwegian super star Orjan Nilsen, who played at the Trance Addict stage with great success with some fantastic comments in the social media. The stage was packed when he played, so there was definitely a strong army of Orjan Nilsen followers who were in front of him at Tomorrowland. After his top performance on the second weekend, and an interview at Tomorrowland radio, which incidentally was on air for the whole duration of the festival, broadcasting extended extracts from various stages. We manage to catch up with him and requested an interview. We are super glad he accepted the challenge, and here you can experience another very entertaining and informative Orjan Nilsen interview.
First of all we asked him about his DJ sets at both weekends and how the crowd reacted to his selections. Next we asked about his current single 'Hurricane' with Christina Novelli which is out on his own label; In My Opinion, part of Armada Music. He speaks about his label and the artists he had the pleasure to sign, and he reveals some of his forthcoming projects, remixes and releases. He presents his summer tour schedule so far, and his forthcoming gigs. We ask him if he ever played any of his productions at any of his gigs and the reaction from the crowd were not so enthusiastic. Also he confesses that he is about to start his own radio show. Finally we discuss the explosion of dance music in USA, and how much this has affected his career and bookings on the other side of the Atlantic. When Orjan Nilsen speaks, you better listen carefully!
Many thanks so much to Orjan Nilsen for taking the time to record this interview.
Also, many thanks to Marije de Konink & Carmen van den Werf from Armada Music offices for their assistance in arranging interviews.
Not forgetting thanks to Debby Wilmsen & ID&T Belgium for the press accreditation.
