Carlijn Lindemulder, Head of Sustainability at ID&T, explains what ADE Green means to her and its implications for the electronic music industry at large.
Carlijn Lindemulder is one of the main driving forces behind ADE Green, a joint initiative between ADE and ID&T. She explains: “The main aims of the event are to inspire, share knowledge and stimulate collaboration between different stakeholders from the electronic music industry in the field of sustainability. ADE Green is a one of a kind event with a focus on sustainability and innovation that gives people from the music industry the chance to interact, learn and get inspired. Seeing all those amazing people in one room last year made me realise the enormous impact we can have together in leading the way towards positive change. And, following a successful first edition, ADE Green will move to a brand new location this year, the Brakke Grond. This location gives us the chance to feature an extended program of interactive panels, discussions and debates on sustainability. I’m very excited about the program which will feature several prestigious speakers including Woodstock organiser and activist Michael Lang, Phil Cumming who worked on the sustainable initiatives deployed at the 2012 London Olympic Games, and DJ Nicky Romero who is actively involved in helping encourage socially responsible projects for artists. We have also added a training track to the program were we will go deeper into the subject of energy at events and we will host networking drinks where people have a chance to meet and cook up new plans and partnerships.”
Lindemulder sees genuine evolution in sustainability and eco responsibility over the last 12 months: “In the electronic music industry I can see a definite trend towards working in a more sustainable, smarter way of doing things. More and more event organisers, artists, suppliers and brands are working together and creating real change. Some amazing stories and cases will be presented at ADE Green this year. New this year in the program is that we will start the day with looking into ‘the why’ of things. In a series of keynote speeches and an interview we will present a bigger picture view on the planet’s most pressing issues and how to maybe solve it. Also new this year is the fact that we’ve added a training track next to the main conference track. Together with our partner EE MUSIC, we will provide training that gives practical insights in cost-saving and environmentally friendly energy use for festival and event promoters and technical staff. Experts from the Green Music Initiative and Julie's Bicycle are working together with energy consultants from professional energy agencies to highlight factors that should be taken into account when holding outdoor events with temporary energy use.”
Don’t forget that you can get an ADE 1-Day Ticket, 5-Day Conference Ticket or ADE Green conference ticket to attend our panels, discussions and debates on sustainability. We look forward to having a drink to the future with you!
