Admired by Above & Beyond for his technical wizardry and gifted ear, Canada's Colin Fisher has continued to be at the forefront of Anjuna's more progressive output. Having made the transition to Anjunabeats with 2013's "Animus", his first solo EP on the label, "Gemini" / "Atlantic", is a confident outing.
Hand picked by Above & Beyond as the ideal bridge between the deeper and more club orientated flavours on their Volume 11 compilation, "Gemini" begins in a haze of snarling bass and ricocheting atmospheric layers. Falling into a sublime piano led breakdown, the track builds to a turbulent crescendo, driven home by a thunderous rhythm section.
With a nod to the classic Bedrock / Sasha vibe, "Atlantic" is a slow burner with a dark heart. Showcasing Colin's love of left-field soundscapes, a pulsating bassline is the perfect setting for "Atlantic's" textured top line - full of Soundprank's trademark audio quirks.
Dimitri Kechagias review: Soundprank is back on Anjunabeats after his deeper anjunadeep releases in the past and his latest tunes on Enhanced recordings. Soundprank slowly make his transition from deeper progressive tracks to more mainstage oriented but by retaing that vibe we all adored in his early works. Two great tracks Gemini & Atlantic that are quite different from each other and both absolutely stunning forward thinking productions. As it seems from the YouTube comments fans demand the older Soundprank sound to come back but I wonder if an artist particularly in Electronic Dance Music can stay on a certain style or subgenre for his entire career. Soundprank loves progression and development and he is unique and different. His Anjunabeats debut EP is a proof of that determination and creative flair that can not pass unnoticed. First of all is the stunning Gemini that bridges really successfully progressive house with melodic progressive trance. It starts really melodic and spacey with chunky electroish groove and deep throbbing basslines and soon he adds more fantastic soundlayers that build slowly the meaty rich foundation that sounds large on festivals sound system. The breakdown is absolutely mesmerising with piano melody that crawls under your skin and calm your senses in truly cinematic direction combined with hair raising synths and epic strings. Your mind travels to mysterious places until the moment that the sub bass is back to take us for a ride that becomes quite aggressive and in your face as the bassline becomes quite freakish and the synthy melodies are present to uplift your senses. Soundprank remodels the festival sound of the future that combines energetic, deep, melodic and euphoric elements in one surprising package. Second top track is Atlantic. If the title of track implies beautiful sunkissed melodies and airy like Atlantic ocean breeze synths then this track is exactly what you expect or wish to be in the first place. Deep punchy basslines, chunky moody groove and vocal samples combined with cinematic strings that nicely lead us on his very Ibiza influenced breakdown with very cheerful happy synthy melody that slowly uplift your spirit and make you smile big time. The climax is straight forward and continues on the same mode as it started with the addition of that Ibiza recalling synthy riffs delivering the subtle and subliminal overall result! Two top tracks from an artist that we ain't seen nothing yet from him! #PureGold Love iT
