"One of the most refreshing new tunes I've heard in long time" - Markus Schulz
A tradition that’s unofficially linked their last 4 years with a 3-strong arc of ‘Slowmotion’ tracks, each has augured a major new Solarstone or Orkidea release or project. As the first purpose-produced track from his forthcoming, keenly anticipated ‘Electronic Architecture³’compilation, No. ‘III’ in the series is no different. Together the pair deliver another piece of righteously dark, long and supremely strong subterranean-minded trance.
Solarstone & Orkidea are back to strike three for three with the latest in their sequential ‘Slowmotion’ series. The pair’s Original Mix steams from port through coolly undulated bass waves and casually swelled 80s-edged synthesis, tipping a blasé vocal salute to arch synth-masters Yello as it embarks.
Churning those waters ever deeper, female siren-song harmonies heighten its atmosphere, before Richard & Tapio channel the track into the glockenspiel-like orchestral chime of the break. With the tempo’s dial securely locked to trance-progressive, ‘Slowmotion III” proceeds to deliver one laser-lit FX tweak, frisson-filled sequential development and masterfully delivered key change after another.
Pure mood-food for those that like to explore the dark underbelly of trance, the Original Mix of ‘Slowmotion III’ arrives on Beatport on June 30th.
Dimitri Kechagias review: It's always great pleasure to find out that there are artists who have strong bonds of friendship like the one that holds tight Solarstone & Orkidea together for many years. The good buddies who may live thousands of miles away but stay artistically close are uniting once again to produce something that stands out for the summer of trance 2014. They compose the 3rd part of their epic trilogy Slowmotion. The 3rd instalment is fantastic emotional melodic trance with strong grounding in progressive, psy trance and melodic balearic trance with strong industrial music and 80's electro pop elements as well. Slowmotion III is a playful adventure into the game of sounds and sentiments that someone can create through music. It starts with cool vocal sample combined with pulsating bassline and rolling drums while on top are added some analogue sounding old school synths and even some chopped wailing female vocals. They sprinkle with psy trance sound effects and additional melodies that actually create that live like sound and you can not stop thinking Solarstone & Orkidea at the stage behind their computers and synthesizers performing the track live. The breakdown is absolutely hair raising with melodies that give you shivers and easily touch the sensitive chords in your heart! The climax continues on the same pathway without doing something extraordinary cause Slowmotion is not about pay off moments and huge crescendos. On Slowmotion what is more important is the journey and the whole track as sonic experience! With Jean Michel Jarr and Vangelis sound clash going on Slowmotion III is a futuristic balearic progressive trancer with strong grounding to what some may call real analogue electronic music! #PureGold Love iT
