It’s a phenomenon every trance lover will recognize… Have you ever felt that a moment in your life was inescapably intertwined with a song, and that listening to that song was the only way to relive not just the memory, but to truly transport yourself back in time?
For many, electronic music once represented a profound cultural shift in consciousness, and it was an almost alien outlet that had never previously existed. Paul Oakenfold has been emblazoned onto the hearts of thousands, if not millions of fans worldwide, and there are entire legions of people who can still remember sliding the plastic wrap off their very first ‘Tranceport’ CD and going on a journey that would change their lives forever…
Hearing these tracks again, in the fittingly titled ‘Trance Mission’, will be a bittersweet, beautiful, and sometimes cathartic experience that’s sure to stir up something deep within you. Every single one of these tunes has so profoundly shaped the industry that we now almost take for granted.
Tranceport yourself back to a time when dance music was brand new and a synthesizer represented much more than just a cheap plugin within a DAW. Go back to the days of analog — to the days of DJs mixing live on vinyl, imperfections and all. Revisit these unforgettable anthems with the man who brought them to the world so many years ago, and hear how well these timeless tunes fit into the climate of 2014.
‘Café Del Mar’, ‘Madagascar’, ‘Adagio for Strings’,‘Toca Me’, ‘Ready Steady Go’ and the list goes on… Each one an unforgettable classic in its own right, and each one brilliantly updated and freshly imagined to fit the aesthetic and style of the present day. Oakenfoldhas done a fabulous job keeping the spirit of these classic tunes true to the original, while presenting them in a way that seems bold, exciting, and thoroughly modern. The blend will strike a nerve for many, and it will serve as a reminder of the power this music had and will always have.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Perfecto records proudly presents the brand new album of the man who is responsible thanks to his hard word and dedication to the growth of electronic dance music culture and particularly trance that he is still in love despite of doing more mainstream pop projects as well. His album Trance Mission are not remixes of classic trance anthems as many will think about. Trance Mission is all about recreating / remaking those eternal tracks with a modern spin/twist so to be perfect for the ears of the younger generation. It sounds strange but actually Paul Oakenfold is on a very heavy mission to give to the brand new generation of trancers the chance to taste some of the moments that shaped the trance culture as it is today. Of course many will have different opinions about the tracks that end up in this album cause music is such a subjective thing that everybody has his own all time favourites. Trance Mission is going to be huge headlines in the summer that Paul Oakenfold will tour around the most important festivals playing them in thousands of trance faithfulls. First of all is the full on euphoric psy trance Perfecto Fluoro sounding remake of our beloved anthem Not Over Yet by Grace. This top classic came out before some years with fresh remixes and particularly the Max Graham & Protoculture remix became a huge anthem. Label boss goes his own direction and service the full on banging and driving hi-nrg euphoric trance style that will please the Pure Trance followers. The vocals and the well known synthy line is present of course and will give you goosebumps and shivers without any doubts. Its one of those tracks that will be eternally around cause Trance Is Not Over Yet! Next trance classic is the fantastic anthem Dreams by Quench with the huge synthy riff at the breakdown after the classic church bells sample. He uses female spoken vocal while in the original was a dark male one and definitely this makes an interesting change. It's definitely the quintessential trance track that talks to your heart straight away and bring excitement whenever you hear it. Powerful progressive big room trance style remake that respects the vibe of the original and the synthy line sounds so devastating as on the original. There are many who may disagree about retouching those sacred classics but personally I love the way that Paul treat them and give them a new fresh twist. 3rd track is the very beautiful remix by Future Disciple on the remake of the magnificent Nalin& Kane classic Open Your Eyes. Future Disciple manage to build great reputation about his excellent level of production skills and his remix is his new prog trance meets psy trance style. Tribal drums, deep progressive basslines, floating synths, warm strings and in the breakdown except the well known original melodic riff he adds his fantastic Indian/Goa style traditional/ethnic melodies and voices that simply elevate the track to the next level. It's the time that a classic anthem meets the talent of an upcoming and quickly rising talent and the magic happens. Another excellent moment of this monumental album is the brand new breaks/old school Hybrid like version of the Rank 1 classic The Awakening. It must be said that the idea not to go the easy direction that was to deliver a full on uplifting trance track seems to work out perfectly and if you consider the soundcloud comments on the track people approve and is very important when you do something to have the support of your followers. Of course Paul is such an openminded musician that he manage to educate his fans to be eclectic as possible and not to be afraid to take risks. Chilling, dreaming, travelling, ready for the next Cafe del Mar style album Paul Oakenfold gave new leash of life and proved once again that he follow his own creative pathways. Open your Eyes is one of the most beloved trance anthems by the German trance masters Nalin & Kane and his version is full on Fluoro style in contrast with the blissful balearic progressive trance original version. Pure uplifting trance at its very best with the well known melodic theme from the original in the breakdown that will definitely give shivers and endless moments of goosebumps. It's trance tailor made for big trance events and talks straight to your heart and I guess it means metaphorically to Open the Eyes of our Soul. One of the hottest new generation trance stars is the beloved Johnny Yono. He service his own treatment of the QT Quartet classic Hold that Sucker Down. He is very well known and globally respected for his neo electro big room trance style and on this track does his best to impress and put fires on the dancefloors. Tough bouncy housey grooves, electro twisted and smashed basslines, while on top his adds hints of the well known melodic theme. His breakdown is very atmospheric with ethnic style voices and warm cinematic atmosphere. When the unforgettable synthy riff comes out of the speaker you can easily imagine the supernatural reactions on the dancefloor. His climax is full on and super energetic with great new replay on the well known hair raising synthy! Johnny is constantly in great shape and we love what he did with Hold that Sucker Down! Next track that Paul recreates is the stunning Touch Me by Rui Da Silva & Cassandra Fox who actually came to the studio to resing the unforgettable lyrics that have been the soundtrack for many summer holidays without doubts. His idea to produce a chill out version works perfectly for the purposes of his album. Excellent ambiance with various synthy melodies, airy pads, electronic riffs, piano chords, guitar riffs and classic violin strings as well. Of course the main star of the track is the inspirational performance of Cassandra that shines and elevates the track to a higher level straight away. Just wait the dj to drop it as the final track in his set when the sun is rising and the stars disappearing. Next is Barber's Adagio For Strings that have been remixes by many including Tiesto & Ferry Corsten. Of course now that Progressive House / Festival House is so prominent Paul Oakenfold transforms the original into a mainstage rough and bouncy banger with punchy basslines, jumping and pumping grooves and the fantastic easily recognisable theme in the breakdown that will give real excitement without doubts. Lastly Theme From Great Cities is perfectly reshaped into a driving melodic progressive trancer with psy trance infusions packed with acid overtones and characterised from the brilliant ethereal vocals in the breakdown that will erupt the dancefloor without doubts! If you attend Tomorrowland in Belgium either of the two weekends Paul Oakenfold will appear both weekends at the Trance Addict stage. #PureGold Love IT
