REVIEW: Diamond Pistols - Wrecker out on Tomorrow Recordings

With one of the freshest sounds in dance music at the moment and having released his debut EP with Datsik’s Firepower Records last year, Diamond Pistols now brings the mighty ‘Wrecker’ to No Tomorrow Recordings.

No stranger to creating uncompromising and heavily textured sounds, this young producer delivers an energized and genre-encompassing single in the form of ‘Wrecker’. A lifting, rhythmic introduction makes way for driving vocal interjections and a suspense-building series of powerful riffs. The first drop is more subtle than first anticipated, playing upon the defined, pulsating bassline pattern – although this is developed the second time around. An atmospheric climax then signals the start of the drawn-out yet striking outro.

Incorporating an array of sounds and styles into this track, Diamond Pistols’ versatile qualities as a producer are clearly displayed here. Cautious yet dynamic, ‘Wrecker’ is a contradiction of musical elements, and one that is bound to be heard across the Electro circuit for quite some time.

About Diamond Pistols

Fabricated in the Pacific Northwest, the newest weapon in the dance music arsenal has arrived – Diamond Pistols.

In 2013, Diamond Pistols, otherwise known as Christian Dold, kicked things off with the release of his debut EP on industry giant Datsik’s digital imprint, Firepower Records, peaking at #1 on Beatport’s Top Dubstep Releases. Shortly after, his remix of Kairo Kingdom’s “Get Down” screamed through the Beatport charts, settling in at #11 on the top 100 Dubstep tracks.

Dold hit his mark upon the release of his heavily blogged and downloaded remix of Ace Hood’s “Bugatti,” which has received more than one million plays across the web, DJ support from Diplo, Steve Aoki, Carnage, Dada Life, Chuckie, and DJ Snake, as well as airplay on the legendary BBC 1xtra in the infamous “Diplo & Friends” radio show.

Rapidly gaining momentum, Diamond Pistols’ trajectory is in motion as 2014 kicks off with an official remix of Chuckie’s festival banger “Dirty Funkin Beats” on Big Beat Records, as well as a Big Room inspired Trap collaboration with ETC!ETC! With a busy performance schedule, and remix requests piling up, the entire dance music community has their eyes and ears firmly fixed on this young producer.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Ibiza party season just started and everybody is getting ready for hot days and sweaty nights. Of course there is no Ibiza parties without music and great producers like Diamond Pistols. His track Wrecker is an anthem guaranteed that follows the hard house sound that many term as USA EDM style. Tough sharp kicks, bouncy pumping heavy basslines, excellent percussive melodies, fantastic uplifting synths with infectious melody that crawls under your skin and energise your blood vessels straight away. Powerful and solid as rock this anthem doesnt allow even to stop for a moment to take a deep breathe. You should be ready to dance all the way from the first kick till the last thunderous drop. The cool vocal samples work like a treat to add character and make this nasty sleazy naughty banger into a massive Ibiza Anthem 2014! Can you handle something so large? Cause in our case Wrecker is not recommended for the weak hearted. Love iT
