REVIEW: Calippo - Taking Over EP out on Enormous Tunes / Sirup Music

His fresh sounding deep house productions brought CALIPPO onto the map of various big DJs, he got recent support by likes such as Pete Tong, Oliver Heldens, Danny Howard, Sister Bliss and many more.

The big talent returns now with a massive 3 track EP to our label. Be prepared for massive UK house stabs, moving beat patterns, summerish chord breakdowns and catchy vocals.

NEED A FRIEND opens up the EP: Some anthemic piano chord progressions build the basic and the vocal quote "I don't want a lover, I just need a friend" on top will for sure be stuck in your head instantly.

The title track TAKING OVER takes a clubbier UK garage direction but still offering a good portion of deep house vibes. A guaranteed floor filler to tease the masses. The minute you feel the energy, the vibe is just taking over you.

GET ME comes up in a more indie dance suit. The synth stab melody takes the lead here while the proper house drum arrangement underneath pumps throughout. In the breakdown some high pass filtered chords add the perfect summer feeling to the track before it drops again.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Enormous Tunes is back with another classic in the making deep house EP by the ever reliable Calippo. The latest EP is called Taking Over and includes 3 super cuts that any deep house lovers will appreciate deeply. Need A Friend is an excellent feel good playful deep house anthem with classic orga sounds, piano chords upon the chunky techy grooves and the deep funky basslines while he adds some early 90's balearic house influences as well. The result is a mouthwatering danceable irresistible production that will become your favourite as soon as you hear it once. Taking Over  is an excellent late night tech house smasher with interesting percussive melody upon the wonky chunky groove and the throbbing bassline. The vocals are pitched down while UK garage house influences are added as well along with some sprinkles of acid overtones too. Dirty, sleazy and very sexy production with attitude and creative flair. Lastly Get Me is another super cool deep tech house anthem that is funky to the maximum with diva house vocal samples and percussive synthy melody upon the wonky techy groove while the bassline is pulsating good vibes relentlessly to keep the dancefloor burning! Essential selections for Ibiza hot days and nights. Love iT
