REVIEW: Lane 8 - The One EP Remixes out on Anjunadeep

An early stand out of our 2014 releases, “The One EP” firmly established Lane 8 as one of the most exciting young artists around, picking up heavy support from Pete Tong, The Magician and Tensnake.

Following the heavy-hitting Klangkarussell Remix that featured on the EP, Matt Lange, Baio and Bhok come together on a diverse, genre spanning remix package.

Matt Lange takes “The One” on a techy journey, twisting the searing bass of the original into a subtle, hypnotic melody, surrounded by trademark Matt Lange atmospherics and the infectious vocal.

“Nothing You Can Say” gets the remix treatment from Baio, who as well as being a Grammy winning member of Vampire Weekend is also making a name for himself with his solo productions on Greco-Roman and Future Classic. A quirky blend of stuttering clicks and warm flowing bass, his mix once again brings the gorgeous vocal of Lucy Stone to the fore.

Rounding off the package is a remix from up and coming UK producer Bhok, who’s early productions have garnered him the support of XLR8R. He brings his bass heavy style to “The One”, creating a complex low end roller.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Anjunadeep is one of the most beloved labels in the house scene and their releases are brilliant. Because of Anjunadeep we came in contact with great artists like Dusky and one of those global talents Lane 8 from San Fransisco USA. He is definitely one of those new faces in the deep house scene that added his very personal sound that is melodic, sensual and very erotic and luscious as well. Now his The One EP is remixed in perfection by 3 great artists that did their best to leave us speechless staring each other with wide open eyes. First of all the beloved Matt Lange does his own translation on The One. The top USA producer is a master on sound designing a track and build his cinematic atmospheric sound that is warm, tender, emotional, sensitive and absolutely magical. Fantastic techy grooves combined with deep haunting moody basslines, cool melodic themes and of course the fantastic vocals that work so beautifully within this outstanding soundscape. Next on remix duties is Bhok who provides his calming, cooling and soothing chill out version that lasts for more than 8 minutes. It starts with break beat section and then moves on the deep house direction. Deep basslines, techy beats, luscious melodies, playful application of the vocal samples and impressive atmosphere that is impossible to hear it in Ibiza terraces and not feeling the urge to ask the dj what is playing at the moment. Baio presents his fantastic version on Nothing You Can Say featuring the beloved Lucy Stone retro style performance. His version is absolutely incredible composition that is summery, sunny and ready to play in your sets and bring sunshine in the hearts of your audience. Futuristic Deep tech house jewel with claps like groove, deep haunting basslines, various organic sounds, retro dreamy melodies and of course the stunning vocals. Cinematic atmosphere that make you dance and visualise what you hear at the same time. When everything sounds so generic and copy paste style, you should press play on Anjunadeep releases and you will feel again optimistic for the future of electronic dance music culture! #PureGold Love iT
