Following support from MK, The Magician, Tensnake and Skream on his debut Anjunadeep release, Lancelot returns with another exciting collaborative EP, this time with Australian soul sensation Ngaiire.
Premiered on BBC Radio 1 by Skream, "Ain't Nothin' Goin' on But the Rent" picks up where "Givin' It Up" left off, fusing contemporary deep sounds with retro vocal vibes. Ngaiire covers Gwen Guthrie's 80's classic in style over jam-band style instrumentals, featuring live guitar, keys and synth.
The sound of the Anjunadeep Miami party, B-side "Truth" ventures deeper, with Ngaiire again harnessing a throwback vocal over a warm, enfolding bass groove.
First up on remix duties is Meramek, who follows up his exciting debut Anjunadeep EP with a seriously bass heavy cut, perfectly primed to do some damage on the dance floor.
Lancelot himself turns in an ace piano dub reworking of the A-side, fuelled by ravey low end and infectious piano stabs beneath the chopped up vocal.
Fellow Aussies Playmode, fresh from remixing Ninetoes and collaborating with Jesse Rose put a wonky dancefloor spin on the original, working a bouncing tech-house groove around the stripped back vocal.
Release Date: April 28th 2014
Dimitri Kechagias review: One of the most prolific record labels in the house scene at the moment is Anjunadeep that actually is one of first labels that have supported wholeheartedly the rise of the deep house scene that seems to be the current trend in the mainstream. The brand new release by Lancelot is another high class deep house beauty that moves on the same sophisticated eclectic Anjunadeep sound. Ngaiire is on the vocal duties and she has the house diva voice that seems to come out straight from the 80's. The original mix is a beautiful late night excursion with break beat in the breakdown and the cool Ngaiire vocal delivery that stands out and can make you turn your head to the speakers. Chunky techy groove with deep but throbbing bassline and funky old school house organ riffs along with jazz influences. All elements work together like a treat to build a blissful laid back danceable soundscape. Many ladies will identify and sing a long by the heart the cool lyrics so it can be easily labelled as lady pleaser. The second original track is Truth and is definitely truth to state that is another addictive hooky romantic house gem that goes deep and moody with chorus style voices and great atmosphere with deep basslines and chunky techy beat that pushes the proceedings forward. It sounds old school and so futuristic at the same time with the warmth of analogue instruments. Lancelot's Piano Dub mix is an interesting alternative version that starts deeper and moodier but very soon he surprise us as he adds airy synths and rave style piano chords along with parts of the original vocals. Floating and riding is definitely an alternative view on the original and just not a dub mix. Meramek aka the beloved Oliver Smith adopts the tech house meets UK garage house sound that is packed with memories and will recall the early 90's house boom. He uses some parts of the vocal and let it nicely flow upon the skippy techy chunky groove and the deep funky haunting bass. The result is hypnotic and very engaging for the listener. Last but not least Playmode remix continues on the deep territory with much more playful attitude as they bring into play influences from various styles resulting on their very unique and personal house sound that is deep, mesmerising, moody and pleasurably electronic. It sounds like sonic acupuncture that relax you while you dance along with it! #PureGold Love iT
