Relentless, driving and compelling, Mistakes Comeback is made for the dance floor. With it’s unconventional grooves and funk emphasis, Léger reminds us that he knows how to get people moving.
With three tracks on the EP, Léger dives in head first with ‘Come Back’. Percussion packs a serious punch in the opening seconds and entices for more, however, it isn’t long until we are swimming in funk so rich. Swinging through all of it’s elements, a harmonica sample the perfect marriage to this French touch, we are reminded of the pristine production capabilities that only comes with years of experience
‘Driving Home’ again opens with solid percussion, yet this time we are in a more disjointed realm, accents and off beats seemingly spinning out of control; the beat is one of movement, and move you it will. Complimenting a more off the wall sound, the vocal is dark and ominous, the antithesis of this solid dancing groove.
Remix duties for ‘Come Back’ come from the German duo Hanne & Lore. Stripping back the introduction to focus on the swing that Léger creates in the original, the emphasis here is on the infectious bassline, which builds and teases throughout. This remix is best suited for a terrace, with Balearic chords that reverberate and invoke images of sunset on the White Isle.
