REVIEW: Journeyman - Spend It All EP out on Anjunadeep

The latest addition to the Anjunadeep ranks are up and coming UK house act Journeyman, who join Lane 8, Dusky and Lancelot in the ever expanding label family.

Having first caught the A&R attention at AnjunaHQ with their remix of Brookes Brothers last summer, Journeyman then truly marked their arrival on the scene with "Get Closer" / "Sideways" on New State Music.

The "Spend It All EP" further develops and showcases Journeyman's exciting approach to melodic club music. Already supported by the likes of The Magician, Jody Wisternoff and Shir Khan, lead track "Spend It All" is a rolling weapon, fuelled by surging low-end, infectious vocal and rattling percussion.

The atmospheric "Constellation" ventures into spacier territory, blending harmonically chopped and distorted vocals with another deep, driving bassline keeping this one firmly rooted to the dance floor.

Featuring the soulful vocals of Vikter Duplaix, "In The Dark" is a low-slung jam, built around a throbbing bassline and bouncy percussion, which rounds off Journeyman's debut Anjunadeep EP in fine style.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Anjunadeep is  the most welcoming label for new talents that have something intresting to say with their music and  stand out from the rest. The latest addition is the mysterious Journeyman duo from UK with their 3 tracks EP that showcases their abilities and their confidence to produce fantastic tracks with great magical atmosphere that for me is always the main criterion on any track and on any style that I check out. It is evident from their music that  their  about to enter the limelight and they will easily become known  by many fans worldwide without doubts cause simply their music deserves it 100%. Their top EP on Anjunadeep contains  emotional melodic deep house tracks that have quality and the eclectic touch  we always expect to get from Anjunadeep label. Spend It All is  a moody dark and driving deep tribal house gem with excellent organic percussion, cinematic strings and whispering like distorted male vocals that add  erotic glow to the proceedings. It will recall the balearic house tracks of the 90's with futuristic tendencies though. Constellation is the magnificent urban deep house track with brooding deep dark bassline, techy chunky beats, cinematic dreamy strings, distorted vocal samples  combined in perfection with the sweet soulful male vocals. It's pretty impossible this awesome track not to carry you away to magical places and put you in a certain dream state. Last but not least comes the equally awesome In The Dark featuring the eponymous vocals by Vikter Duplaix. Deep tech house track with chunky groovy beats, playful electro inspired bubbly basslines, hints of jazzy melodies, melodramatic strings and the strange dark and really theatrical performance by Vikter Duplaix on vocals that sounds  alienated and very isolated as well. It represents well the loneliness we all feel when we take a walk in the dark without being sure what to expect! Darkness is a space of endless possibilities and most importantly the ground that we should deal with all our fears and insecurities. This top track seems to deal with them really well. 3 jewels for your deep house selection. #PureGold Love iT
