For ‘Magenta’s next single transmission, musical maestro Giuseppe Ottaviani has teamed up with Dmitry Dmitriev, better known as Russian trance progressive producer Audiocells. Completing the release’s super troupe is vocalist Shannon Hurley and together they’ve conspired to create something a little bit low-slung and deliciously mood filled!! This is ‘I Am Your Shadow’.
With the launch of his GO On Air Recordings imprint and the release of the Alana Aldea collaboration ‘Heal This Empty Heart’, Giuseppe’s 2014 was fast off the blocks. March sees the Italian electronic music composer supersize another of the ‘Magenta’ album’s vocal prizes into an incredible single.
Singer Shannon Hurley (who’s previously toplined tracks for Alex M.O.R.P.H., Tenishia, Andy Duguid, Protoculture and others) brings no small amount of vocal haunt and mystique to her lyrical lines and vocal intonations. Giuseppe underpins them with one of his typically thrusting, sinuous productions, while Audio Cells supply their darkly more atmospheric trance-progressive top layer to further shade ‘Magenta’s palette.
Dimitri Kechagias review: The very successful trance album Magenta by the Italian master of melodic trance Giuseppe Ottaviani continues to be great source for fantastic singles. The latest one is his collaboration with Audiocells featuring the brilliant vocals by Shannon Hurley that I consider to be one of the most important singers at the moment on EDM tracks and is has the inspired title I Am Your Shadow and is released on the legendary imprint Black Hole recordings. On remix duties are the hot Latin American duo Heatbeat. The awesome boys from Argentina that never fail to impress with their talent, they service an exceptional makeover as they totally transform the track into their own unique style that is mixture of electro and progressive house grooves with raw basslines and trancy synthy leads in order to deliver what we term as the established by now the explosive "Heatbeat style". Fat bouncy techy beats, electro inspired aggressive basslines that deliver that meaty groove and various sound effects that increase intensity and raise the heat on the dancefloor. Shannon Hurley's heartbreaking voice appear crystal clear upon the rocking beats and manage as always to shine and stand out for those sing a long moments when the dj turns the volume down and encourage the crowd to sing back loud to him/her/. The breakdown is very emotional and cinematic with the cinematic strings and the heartfelt vocals to cool the clubbers down until the huge burst of euphoria thanks to the massive electro inspired synthy lead that comes to uplift the clubbers and raise their consciousness to the next level. The climax is maddening, wild, in your face and tailor made for those moments that you ask for something super hard to sweat on the dancefloor and let all the aggression and bad mood melt away. The fantastic Solarstone is on remix duties and his version moves on his well known and established by now Pure Trance sound. Driving energetic basslines, pulsating kicks, warm cinematic strings, feel good uplifting synths and melancholic piano chords along with the heartfelt vocals of Shannon Hurley who never stop to impress with her voice. Solarstone exceptional arrangement translates with emotional heartfelt trance sounds the tension, pain,warmth and tenderness that Shannon describes in her story that she sings about.
