REVIEW: Rob Naylor - Head North/Forever City EP out on Garuda

Up and coming 17-year-old producer Rob Naylor has unleashed his second ever release on Garuda Music, a two-track EP titled Head North/Forever City that’s out now on Beatport.

The Montreal-based DJ’s debut track ‘Yes,’ also signed to Garuda, shot up the Beatport Top 100 Trance chart in July and saw support from big names like Gareth Emery, Markus Schulz and Ben Gold.

“After making 'Yes' and getting it on Garuda I had a burst of inspiration, and for a few weeks just put my head down in the studio and worked relentlessly on these two tracks,” Rob said.

‘Forever City’ and ‘Head North’ both capture the big room energy of ‘Yes,’ but with a higher focus on the melodies. While ‘Forever City’ has a harder edge, ‘Head North’ delves deep into the classic trance realm with an upbeat, retro feel.

Melodies are what I've always been in love with,” Rob said. “I also tried to incorporate some 'oldskool' sounds in the productions, as I had been really listening to a lot of older EDM during that period. I feel like these two are another step towards developing myself as an artist.”

Rob’s latest tracks have taken off at a galloping start, with ‘Head North’ already receiving radio support from Gareth Emery (TGEP 248), Armin van Buuren (ASOT 626), Paul Van Dyk (VONYC 365) and Andy Moor (Moor Music 104), and ‘Forever City’ premiering on Gareth Emery Presents on Sirius XM.

With such success and support at the early development stages of his career, it’s safe to say this young Canadian has big things ahead on his journey to stardom.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Garuda music from Manchester headed by the superstar dj and producer Gareth Emery presents the next instalment of Rob Naylor's rise to global fame with two magnificent trancers ready to conquer the charts and playlists of well known and bedroom dj's as well. Head North is a driving banging uplifting trancer with techy beats, bouncy driving bassline, chopped vocal samples,  and its main characteristic is the top notch electro infused rave style distorted synthy lead that will stuck in your head for long. Well-polished production that sounds rich in detail and ready for heavy action on the dancefloors. Forever City is the progressive trance choice with greedy electro kissed basslines, techy metallic style beats and on top epic style synthy themes that will travel your mind to another space and dimension for sure. The breakdown reveals another hard to forget and absolutely memorable rave style distorted synthy that performs a very happy optimistic theme upon the very dark and sinister sound foundation. Rob Naylor deliver two equally solid and tight productions to give moments of unforgettable trance pleasure! Love IT
