ABBY is a four-piece Berlin band with a sound that bridges the divide between rock and electronic music; their energetic live shows are a unique, high-octane mix of rock gig and techno rave. The name ABBY and the interactive material surrounding the band also presents a musical concept, with the songs forming a ‘narrative story mosaic’ that unfolds as more tunes are heard.
From the very beginning, the band found resonance among music fans and has built a loyal following. Their EP ‘Welcome Home’ gained national airplay and led to the band recording at London’s noted Kensaltown Studios. The new material from these sessions resulted in a debut album that was released in Spring 2013, with the first single ‘Streets’ released back in March 2013 on Universal.
Aside from time spent in the studio, and signing a major publishing deal with BMG/Chrysalis, ABBY have remained constantly busy on the live circuit both at home and internationally. The band ventured to the USA for SXSW, along with shows in New York (Arlene’s Grocery) and Los Angeles (Bootleg Theatre). After a string of sold-out London shows including the Relentless Garage and Barfly venues with Mean Fiddler, they performed at their biggest London headline show to date at the Borderline in Soho, on Wednesday February 27th 2013.
Following a year playing festivals and supporting the likes of Everything Everything, And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, and The Virgins, the list of tour dates is growing almost as fast as the demand for tickets. Fresh from Eurosonic 2013, ABBY have already confirmed several other UK and European festivals, to be announced soon.
Having succeeded in bringing the interactive, tribal party atmosphere of a dance club to a rock’n’roll stage, the story of ABBY continues to unfold as the band fill more venues and win loyal fans.
