"A brilliant young British talent" Pete Tong, BBC Radio 1
"Is there anything Zo can't do?" Mixmag
Impossible to easily categorise, Mat Zo is on a roll right now. Just this year alone, the LA-living British producer has wowed the dance world with his 70-track Essential Mix for Radio 1, topped the Beatport chart with "Easy" (w/ Porter Robinson) and laid down edit-heavy, genre-blurring sets everywhere from EDC Las Vegas to Ibiza - while DJs as diverse as Skrillex, Madeon, Pete Tong, Above & Beyond, Steve Aoki and A-Trak all support his tracks.
Following the universally loved "Easy" with Porter Robinson, the prodigious talent continues to assert himself as arguably the most unique and interesting talent in EDM right now with the high-energy club anthem "Pyramid Scheme" - featuring vocals from Public Enemy's Chuck D.
Propelled by the distinctive vocals of Chuck D (who re-recorded his "rock the funky beat" hits specifically for the track), "Pyramid Scheme" blends elements of electro-house, hip-hop and big room progressive in Zo's unique, dancefloor destroying style.
Mat Zo feat. Chuck D "Pyramid Scheme" will be releasing on 13 August worldwide via Anjunabeats/Astralwerks.
Mat Zo's new fortnightly show - the Mat Zo Mix - will be broadcast on Saturdays from 3 August on Sirius XM.
Dimitri Kechagias review: Mat Zo strikes back and he knows how to do it and turn any available space with good soundsystem into a massive uncontrollable party. Mat Zo this time goes back to the classics and sample the re-recorded vocals by Chuck D for his magnificent Pyramid Scheme. The artist who manage very quickly to shine and stand out impress his friends and enemies as you are not sure what he is going exactly to bring out from his sound kitchen. His latest production is a huge tornado size production that combines beautifully influences from progressive house with huge epic synthy stabs, from trance with dreamy hands in the air breakdowns, from electro with skippy playful basslines and even from hip hop too. Mat Zo delivers an anthem that will win the attention of big rooms and EDM festivals. Its so energetic, groovy and punchy that you know that the only way is UP when this big tune will come out from the speakers. Its really varied track as well with many sound tricks going on to keep you glued dancing or waiting the next big drop or the big euphoric synths to come. The classic vocal has been sampled maybe million times but Mat Zo did his magic with it and really becomes an integral part of the composition rather than being something that wide variety of listeners and particularly in USA will recognise easily. Its Big Party track guaranteed and I'm looking forward for the music video. Good luck Mat ZO! Love iT
