REVIEW: Armin van Buuren ft. Cindy Alma - Beautiful Life incl remixes & music video

Following months of anticipation, the release of Armin van Buuren’s fifth artist album ‘Intense’ arrived in May to rave reviews. His most diverse work yet, the sixteen tracks that feature on the album run the gamut of Armin’s influences, incorporating an array of sounds from progressive and trance to classic, and even rock. The undeniably anthemic lead single ‘This Is What It Feels Like’ featuring Trevor Guthrie spent three weeks in the top 10 in the UK, selling over 180k units and amassing over 8 million views of the video, and now van Buren is ready to unleash the second single from the chart-topping album.

Due for release on 23rd September, ‘Beautiful Life’ featuring French singer Cindy Alma is a clear choice as the next single. Driven by sharp beats, delicate arpeggios and lush synth work, Alma’s sublime vocals soar through van Buuren’s huge progressive production to make a sure fire festival anthem.

Armin van Buuren has been named No. 1 in the prestigious DJ MAG Top 100 poll five times in the last six years. It is an indication of his prolific output over more than 15 years that he’s been DJing and producing. The Dutchman discovered a passion for dance music by listening to mix-tapes and radio shows, and then taught himself how to create his own. 12 years later, his very own radio show ‘A State of Trance’ has grown to legendary heights. Nowadays, 20 million listeners tune into his 2-hour selection of music every week.

Even a basic list of recent successes reads like a lifetime of work. Armin van Buuren isn’t only the number one on the critically acclaimed DJ Mag Top 100. In March 2010, Armin received the ‘Gouden Harp’, the highest distinction a Dutch artist can get. On Queensday 2011, Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands named Armin Officer in the Order of Oranje-Nassau. The royal admiration does not stop there either. On April 30 Armin performed with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra during the inauguration sail of the new King.

The release of the new single comes in the middle of what is set to be an extremely busy summer for van Buuren. With a number of festival slots throughout the season, including a headline slot at SW4 in London on Sat 24th August, as well as his A State Of Trance residency at Privilege in Ibiza throughout the summer, ‘Beautiful Life’ is the perfect soundtrack to the months ahead.

Dimitri Kechagias review: The 5 times number 1 dj and happy father of a daughter and newborn son Armin van Buuren reveals the next single from his superb album Intense. Its of course the much praised Beautiful Life featuring the awesome Cindy Alma vocals. The track is a celebration to nightlife and intense unforgettable moments on the dancefloor when you feel that nothing can touch you cause everything in life when you dance is absolutely magnificent and you can not stop thinking  how Beautiful Life is of course. The track itself is moving on the melodic progressive trance direction with characteristic Armin van Buuren sound. While the previous single was a much more progressive house focused track, Beautiful Life makes the difference as its euphoric proglifting trance at its best with some hints of Swedish house influences to keep happy the growing fanbase of that sound. Powerful to the core, energetic and euphoric is simply magnificent trancer that provides solid and super strong soundscape for the lovely Cindy to inhabit and sing the beautiful and so positive and inspiring lyrics. Beautiful Life is that kind of perfect tune that clubs and radio djs will adore. Now the remix package just landed and Im excited to check them out. First of all the magnificent South African Protoculture puts his magic hand on it and guess what, he comes up with the goods. Powerful uplifting big room progressive trance at its very best. Incredible breakdown that allows Cindy vocals to shine followed by huge hands in the air no holes barred climax. Banging and booming to the maximum ready made for prime time use in your sets. I can confirm that this is the best remix by Protoculture so far. Kat Krazy after his brilliant Siren that I hope to see it climbing to the number 1 at the UK Top40 he comes up with the cool electro house meets progressive house version for the new Armin van Buuren track. Great breakdown with lovely emotional  piano and slamming basslines that slowly build up to explode out of proportion in the massive climax that is rough, raw and in your face perfectly made for EDM festivals and big room clubs. Absolutely maddening version that is so dynamic and unstopable that expect the clubbers go out of their heads completely. Mikkas stayed many weeks number 1 at the beatport trance chart with his remix for Emma Hewitt and now does the same maybe for Armin? His version moves loosely between big room house and trance with hard dance basslines and pumping beats to the maximum. The main part has influences from electro and dubstep and is the kind of sound that teenagers love so much in USA at the moment. Of course for the final climax he adds that rave style synthy lead to drive you crazy with hands in the air! EDM at its best. Beautiful Life has a big positive message. Open your heart and see it with your eyes of your soul and the rest will happen. Love iT!

Thanks to Mark and Power Promotions for the fantastic promo!
